Barkley was born ready. Barkley knows how to drop and has pocket presence. With Barkley, we would have had a shot to beat Florida. What does that say about JJ?

Ok
Ever occur to you that Barkley is on the field cause they have nobody else AND he just happens to have handled it very well under fire while our coaches have not had to throw RS in that situation so we don't know how he would respond. It could have nothing to do with how the coaches have gotten either of them ready, just different circumstances.
To try and put it a bit more simply, if JJ and JL sustained injuries and Miles was forced to play RS as a starter, he may perform as well or even better than Barkley. It's not a fair comparison.

ofcourse it is. Crowton still hasn't gotten his soph QB ready. The RS situation is all on his (and Miles') shoulders.

i think the rs / matt barkley is a good comparison for this reason. i understand the argument that pete carrol was forced to play matt barkley and therefore he HAD to be ready, but the fact remains that rs is arguably the most talented player on our team and when you have someone with that kind of talent you find a way to get them in the game, even if they're a true freshman. no, we don't HAVE to play rs, but we also don't HAVE to play lafell, tolliver, charles scott, or any of the other studs we have on our team. it doesn't matter if he didn't start practicing until august, the coaches should still find a way to get him ready, even if it's for qb draws every single play.

I would bet he would be receiving a lot of snaps under those coaches. What say you rant?

I disagree. I think if he were a reciever or linebacker or something like that then maybe but not at QB. A D-1 offense is highly complex and not only does he have to learn the offense but he has to learn what every defense is going to do and it is different each weekend. It takes time to develop a QB. Just my opinion.

Blame is for small children, the clergy...and rantards who just don't get it. the only thing 'rediculous' in this conversation is your assumption that Shepard was ready to just step in and dominate. those other coaches you mentioned probably would have red-shirted Shepard.

Well, his 5 TDs to 3 INTs certainly back that up! One of the best ever!

Put fown the crack pipe, Shep would not sniff the field at QB for UF Bama or USC. If I had to take a wild guess, Nutt might work him a lot out of the Wild Rebel but that's about it.

Anyone on here that thinks Shep had an excellent shot at being a solid SEC QB as a true frosh is nuts. Who should we blame if Shep is not a an all SEC Safety next year?

In the Vandy game, which was the 2nd of the year. Shep went in at qb, ran for 8-9 got flipped. Next play he lines up at wide receiver and catches a pass. Has he forgotten these plays after the hits. Point is , if takes Les's word than he has forgot more plays this year than he has learned.

Yeah, cause I said that. Shepard, like MILES said, should be getting 8-12 snaps a game and should be on the field a lot more, period. Funny how none of you answered if he would be on the field had Meyer, Saban or Carroll been the coaches.

A true freshman not ready to play in the SEC? How can this be?

ya know...your reading comprehension is really weak, I said those other coaches would have red-shirted Shepard. I'm sure Miles would have loved to have done that for Shepard...but then the delusional rantards like you would have had a meltdown cause Miles at 47-12 doesn't have a clue. do the world a favor and grow up.

Find him a position and let him play. What a unique idea that would be. How about a toss sweep to utilize his speed?

a true freshman can contribute in the SEC if you play to his strenghs and if he has proper coaching. Landry played a lot as a true freshman (didn't he start some games)
you guys always forget to mention Randle who should be catching passes instead of running wind sprints during the game.

The coaches. First Lee wasn't ready, then Jefferson was not ready and now Shep. All three of them are not dumb. We need to get rid of a coach and bring in a QB Coach. Get these guys ready to play. Crowton/Miles cannot do this obviously. RP didn't progress in 07 and Flynn had been here. Jimbo was here in 05 and 06, so I gotta blame Crowton. He has too much to do or just can't develop qb's, but he did develop Tim Rattay.

i blame you and other fans like you. miles said one of the problems is that they have worked him out at qb, rb and wr. for a true freshman to try to learn all three has gotta be tough. i think they bit off more than they can chew. i'm not sure anyone could grasp all 3 of those positions in such a short time. seems like our vision of how to use him was over ambitious and now looks like it was under ambitious.

Forget it byubengalboy, common sense goes out the window when you are talking to bone heads who think RS was not borne to man but traveled to earth on an asteroid from the planet Krypton.
By the way idiots, superboy also fumbles the ball about every third time he touches it. How bout some more turnovers? That would help us win games!
