And if we don't? Don't you want LSU to be in the best position possible? Computers basically act as tie breakers. They can't override the prevealing opinion in the polls. Right now we are ranked high only because we are undefeated. If we don't dispell the notion that we aren't worthy of our rank and that we just fluked into it, we will drop like a rock if/when we do lose.

I love how everyone who uses this argument always prefaces it with "All they really have to do," as if it really isn't that big of a deal and it is easy to do if they just put their minds to it.

SOS will most likely determine who plays for a NC this year with Boise and TCU being so highly ranked and little left on their schedules to create a loss.

I presume you know how SOS is calculated.

yes, but we play both teams involved in this scenario...

it'll balance out.

that won't affect SOS much, if at all.

It's a win-win, but I hope Auburn wins:
• Makes Arky a 2-loss team
• May as well play an undefeated Auburn team instead of a team looking to avenge a home loss from the previous week

so what is your point?

People are so worried about Ark having 2 losses to give us a cushion. I'm saying we don't necessarily need it, that our midseason opponents SOS is more important and that Ark is a team that isn't showing any dominance. LSU is improving weekly as we get more JL and less JJ. I don't see that from Ark and use the close A&M game as an indication.

Agreed but Ark is the last game. I would like to see us in position for a run before the last game and AU winning this week does more to achieve that than an Ark win.

I'll be pulling for a massive hailstorm over the stadium right about gametime.

The best thing for LSU would be for Ark to win a close very hard game.

The first goal is to win the west, and an Ark win vs Aub would put LSU alone atop the standings.

Another way to look at is this: It doesn't matter who wins, the tigers still control their own fate.

Auburn

1. It would be pretty epic to have a 7-0 v. 7-0 match up

2. Could win the west before we even have to play Arky

How are you still arguing SOS?

We play BOTH teams! It doesnt matter.. SOS will remain the same no matter who wins. Perception in the media may change but thats it.

One of them will have a loss after this weekend and we play both teams and hopefully give them another loss. It makes no difference to SOS who wins.

SOS is generally calculated as (2(OR)+OOR)/3

Since both play each other and we play both it cancels out. AU beat USC already and Ark hasnt played them yet if Ark beats USC then its a complete wash.

you guys arguing SOS are forgetting public perception.

Florida had 1 loss when we beat them. Bama already has 1 loss when we play them. Arky will probably have 1 loss when we play them later.

We need to knock off at least 1 undefeated top 10 (or 5) team for some WOW factor

This is what voters remember, which is 2/3 of the BCS.

pull for Auby

Best thing for LSU is a long tough game and a bunch of bruised up AU players who came out of an emotional game.

Don't bother trying to explain that to these people. They are still convinced Miles is the next Lombardi because of the fake field goal

This will give us more credibility with the media who seem to look unfavorably at us.

Uhh wouldnt that give Ark 2 losses?

If Ark beats AU then beats USC then we will be playing a top 10 team at the end of the season.

If AU wins then we are playing a potential 3 loss team at the end of the season.

Voters have short memories (unless you are Boise State that is) they would rather see LSU beat a top 10 team in week 12 and another top team in the SECCG than see LSU beat a once undefeated team (likely 2x beaten by then) in October.

It helps LSU more in the short run (and possibly long run, depending on the rest of the schedule) for Auburn to win the game.

Auburn(n 12 OTs) don't want them coming off a loss. Want them undefeated & cocky
