IMO the booster angle is exaggerated or often used too broadly. especially when talking of large money donors to a university.
of the schools you just mentioned, their problems werent large money donors but rather agents/individuals trying to weasel their way into the student athletes lives and indirectly into the program.
Yeah, but if one of our big boys was a disco-douche I'd be a little worried.

I wouldn't worry about the "big" boosters all that much. Those people, with real earned millions, give back to the university and rarely have anything in common with or have any desire to hang out with an 18 yr old. They just want to see their school succeed and they have too much to lose to do it illegally. The guy you have to watch out for is the 28yr old $900,000,000 having thief, who is looking for a friend. Or the 30 something Tatoo parlor owner/ coke dealer who is also looking for freinds. Or lastly, the agent who has no income or client, but a real good relationship with your running back son when you also need a house. I see the worry, but guys, have anyone of you seen T.Boone Pickens, or Phil Knight brought up for anything? No, just like you won't see either of them at some late night with 20 yr olds. If either of them or anyone else, wants to give a gozillion dollars to a school so that they can tell the coach what play to run, so be it. That is their right. The big boosters at LSU are in the same boat, they're old and have friends(hopefully).

I would imagine J.M. Bernhard, the Manships, Lod Cook and others probably dwarf Shaq.
None of those guys are over 7' and 300 lbs like Shaq is.

I know there was a good deal of speculation as to how much "support" and consequently influence Dr. Jack Andonie had back in the day. Not sure how involved he may be now though.

There is a list of the major booster in Campbell Auditorium. Does anyone know which club is higher out of the purple and gold clubs. Both are the highest two tiers though.

I'm 6'1", 185 lbs. I feel like I'm a good sized booster.

Better question... Who are LSU's "Nevin Shapiiros"?

Excellent post. Also add that any and all of these individuals are smart enough to get around the rules. The people who get caught are dumbasses who like to flaunt their money and high profile friends.
Also, LSU isn't a program like USC or Miami who have hundreds of people hanging around that have nothing to do with the program. Most boosters (at any school) all care too much about the school itself to sell it out.

Not sure about TAF, but they are the largest donors to LSU ever. Somewhere around the 395 million mark.

Are you serious? You must be joking to ask a public message board if we have "Nevin Shapiros" and expect them to list their name. Good one

They will be the people with the most TAF priority points.

It only takes 100k to be a jacket member? That isn't as impressive as I thought it was.
