Were you there 50 years ago? It looks like a picture from the 1960's when that VW bus was new.

I would stay in Telluride (Mountain Village) anytime of the year over Ouray, Durango, etc. - unless price is an issue.

Funny because we did the exact opposite if this. Ouray is much more fun during the summer months because of all the outdoor activities. Telluride was full of Texans, frat stars, and people who want to do a vacation and never step foot outside their cars.
Telluride is the better place to be during winter months tho.

Ouray is also Ayn Rand's Galt's Gulch in Atlas Shrugged. She wrote part of the book there.

It is a great town. One of my favorites in Colorado.

Toonces

Correct me if I am wrong, but I thought Toonces was the tiger head with the paws sticking out. I thought just the head wasn't toonces.

But, how many ranters know how to correctly pronounce "Ouray"?

This is the honest truth. A friend of mine says, hey you are not going to believe what I saw in a 4th of July parade in Colorado. Yep, this vehicle. He about pooped his pants when I showed this picture to him. It is really as small world thanks to the WWW and the Tiger Nation!!

I'll bet that baby can fly down the Million Dollar Hwy in a snowstorm.
I was scared shitless driving up and down the Million Dollar Hwy, especially when I was on the cliff-side of the road...my knees became weak...no joke.

How many vehicles have gone over the side of the cliff?

I see what you're saying. But even the stupid fricking face of the logo, without the paws, is godawful enough to remind me of the rest of the rape scene stuck on every piece of LSU merchandise sold in the last 10 years.

Once you are around 5 miles from a main highway you can forget it in the mountains. I have a booster in my Jeep and even with that we only had service while in Silverton and Ouray. Most people use two way radios.

It's pretty much crap in Telluride so it can't be very good up there.
