You're telling me Gus wouldn't be in the discussion if he would have lost to Bama?
that and if the uga db's could have knocked the damn pass down instead of tipping it unnecessarily.
i'm saying gus was the luckiest son of a bitch on the planet this year. you'll see next year. he's bobby petrino 11. good offense; shitty defense.

It honestly STUNS me that people think Miles is the 2nd best coach in the SEC. I thought I was being kind putting him at 8, he easily could have been #10

Les is a top 5 coach in the SEC.

Could be #10? Yeah. There goes your credibility. See who takes you serious in this discussion for now on. So tell me hot shot. How can he be 10? If you placed Sumlin ahead of him, you are wrong. Les out coached him both years. Dan Mullen, never beaten miles and definitely never out coached him. Spurrier? Never beaten miles and never out coaches him. Throw out stoops, butch davis, Pinkell, and Franklin for head to head comparisons. Missouri had a better year this year. But they have only been in the league 2 years and was helped by a ton of injuries on Georgia's team, a declining Florida program, and a first year SEC coach at two other east teams. That's 7 coaches right there. Hugh freeze is greatly inconsistent as well as Muschamp. There goes 2 more. So why again is miles 8-10? Brent Bielema has been in this league one year and he didn't out coach anyone. Scratch him off the list. So that leaves us with Saban, Richt, and Auburn's coach. He hasn't played out coached Les yet and as others said... Been very lucky this year. Hasn't done enough to rank above les especially if he can't beat him or out coach him. That leaves Saban and Richt. Those are the only two coaches that you should have a legit argument over.

I'm not a big Miles guy, but out of the current SEC coaches, I'd take him over everybody except for Saban, Spurrier and maybe Richt. Malzahn and Pinkel have to do it longer than one year to be considered. Les really need to improve his staff though. Some very weak links in that chain.

Les Miles is 2nd. If you believe otherwise you should be shot.

Gameday coaching, 12th. Obviously much higher when intangibles factored in

what have any of these guys done, that Miles hasn't accomplished, two, three times over?

It's not just about gameday coaching, it's the overall production of the program you run. I put him at #2. Miles does drive me nuts so I'm going to have to wait and see what #'s 3 through 12 do the next couple of years. I'm also counting some other coaches who haven't been hired yet but I think will be SEC coaches in the future.

And the guy can flat out recruit his arse off.

The guy that put up with Garcia's shite for four years? The guy Miles has beat head-to-head every time? The guy that hasn't went to a conference championship since he's been with his team? The guy who's won his division once with a 9-5 record (5-3 SEC), since being with this team? That guy, really?

Richt
A guy, who can never get to the big dance? A guy who loses about half of the top recruits in his state, not just one year, but every year? A guy who, at best, wins his weak division? That's the guy who's better than Miles, really?

Spurrier has won 6 SEC championships and 1 national championship. His NCAA record is 218–79–2 for a 73.4%. (Not sure how to figure in the two ties.)
Miles has won 2 SEC championships and 1 national championship. His NCAA record is 122-45 for a 7.31%.
I'm not a Miles hater...but just when you look at their records, it's hard to say which one is the better of these two over the long run.
