In Mexico across the border from Brownsville. My wife was dragging me around a shopping market and in the back of this one shop, I heard what sounded like a baseball game. As soon as I reached the tv and realized it was LSU, the next pitch was the Home Run!!! I was just in time. The locals in the shop thought I was crazy!!

In a pool, sipping on a pina colada on the island of St. John in the Caribbean.

On the green at a scranble we were playing as part of my 10 year class reunion. Everyone had brought a radio in their carts, so you could hear Hawthorne's call all over the course.

Alamosa, Colorado.
With the game close and the score back and forth, the tv was on and off. What a relief to win! And in such a fashion.
BTW, the pic of Cora lying there on the infield after the home run is my second favorite one from that day.

I was sitting with coachkrp about 10 rows behind home plate and have both of those two great pics, one of the swing, and one of Warren Morris just passed 2nd base with his arm in the air and Cora and Burrell both flat on the ground !!!!!!

Was at a softball tourney with my dad...thankfully someone thought to bring one of those little black and white portable tv's...about 40 people gathered around a 10 inch tv to catch the last inning. Being young I had a front row seat and just exploded when Morris won it with that swing. Awesome memory!

On a plane to New York in route to Pakistan. The wif told me about the homerun during the layover. 3 weeks later Sky Sports showed a replay of the game and I got to watch it in Karachi with some crazy Australian mining engineers. They were amazed when I predicted the home run.

Bartending at George's on Perkins under the overpass.
I'll never forget my freind John walking in the door just as ball was clearing the fence. Everyone jumps up and screams, and he just calmly says, "Oh no, Plese, Sit Down. Thank you, though for the welcome."
Also, passed up the opportunity to take a Franklin from a drunk at the bar who, just an hour later, wanted to bet me it was NOT Warren Morris who hit the homer.
I was in too good of a mood to take his money.

I've regaled the Rant with this tale before, but, here goes:
I was a 1LT in the Louisiana Army National Guard, and we had a training event, and I'm having trouble remembering if it was at Fort Hood or Fort Dix. There were a couple of hardcore baseball fans in the group, and, as the unit was based out of Baton Rouge, a large number of us were LSU students or alumni. Anyway, this troop, I'll call him "Andy", who later went on to law school (I was a 2L at LSU at the time) was wearing headphones (against regulation) and giving us updates on the game.
Everyone was coordinating for their rides to come get them at Metro Ryan, which is both where our unit was headquarterted at the time, and where the plane landed. My ride was the very last one (I was the senior guy, after all). I load all of my stuff into the car, my three kids, ages 6, 2 and 2 were stuffed in the back seat, I slide behind the wheel and change the radio station to the game.
I hear the batter before Morris and the home run. True story.

The image of young cora laying face down crying is permanently burned into memory.
