Top 3...

We all have our own methods of judging a coach, but I have to wonder what measuring stick is being used and how vaild it could be when Miles is ranked by some below the Top 10 considering his 6 seasons of winning and success.

A Cotton Bowl win, 11 wins, and a Top 8 NR sure makes for a sweet off season, huh!

I think the jury is still out. His teams do not consistently have the killer instinct
Since being at LSU he has been good for 2 losses each season.

With all the talent that he has had "recruited by Saban and himself," it can be said that he has done less with more. One NC and one SECC in 6 seasons.

Record when dominated by Saban recruits (34-6) NC, SECC, played for another SECC; 3-0 bowl record.

Record when dominated by Miles recruits (28-11) No SECCG appearances, No West Titles, 2-1 bowl record

Until Miles can win the west consistently and make it to the SECCG, and get over that 2-losses per season, I don't think he will ever be considered a true top 5 coach out side of recruiting. He will be a wilder version of the snake oil salesman. He can bring in talent; he is not sure what to do with the talent once on campus. Similar to the "DiNardo Syndrome"

It's hard to judge a coach while he's still coaching. Maybe when he's retired we'll get a better picture. If we have the kind of season I'm thinking we will have in '11, the he will be donned as one of the greatest at LSU.

Top 5 & At worst, after a bad game, he slips into the Top 10 but quickly restores my faith. Yea, the aTm game confirmed my Top 5 convictions.
I'm old enough to still feel the pain of seemingly losing bowl games yearly. I love the joy of winning whatever bowl game we play in. My opinion is CLM would be undefeated in bowl games with a decent playing field against Penn ST. That is AWSOME.

What is "consistently" and what school has consistently won the west more than LSU in the past 6 seasons?

So???

LSU hasn't gone undefeated in 50+ years and has never had a coach who hasn't averaged 2 or more L's a season.

As to "Saban" recruits, so what? Who coached them to LSU success? Do we look at Shula's recruits at Bama??

That stuff means nothing to me, but I know some make a big deal out of it.

You were doing ok till you had to throw this BS into your post.

Anyone trying to connect GN to LM needs to seek mental health treatment as quickly as possible.

The following have all beaten Miles with drastically less talented teams:

Nutt
Petrino
Nutt
Brooks
Fulmer

What about the master of the universe, Saban? Remeber UAB? That should never happen. Remember ULM beating Bama a few years back? Unacceptable. Miles always beats the teams that he should. Stop all the nitpicking.

If we didnt have to play Penn St in the slop last year...the man is 6-0 in bowl games...zero doubt.

I just cant think of more than a handful of coaches that id want to risk giving Miles up in a trade for..

Saban for sure
Tressel...no thanks
Brown...nah...boring
Stoops...not really
Patterson...probably...but still unproven playing all year with the big boys..

If Harbaugh was still around...probably

Ill say Top 10 and if he gets another SEC champ soon..then Ill say top 5
