I wasn't talking about the perspective of the spectator. You definitely bring up a huge issue with football though.
Ironically, the lack of commercial break availability is a significant issue that stands in the way of American network television embracing the sport.

What's the glaring flaw you refer to? That the goals not big enough. Sorry but that's ridiculous.
Okay, some arbitrary specifications created a very long time ago are perfectly designed.

Nah. We can do without soccer

My point was that a team that gets dominated in possession should have close to no chance, like football. The success of counter-attacking in soccer is way too prevalent. The nature of extremely low-scoring games also deceases the statistical quality of determining a winner. More than any other sport IMO, soccer allows for a lesser team to steal wins.

You might be right about that, wasnt trying to insult you. I guess its just a tactic like intentional walks or pitching around good hitter in baseball. Or in basketball, if a team sucks at outside shooting, the defense usually packs it in...
im not sure which sport's underdog wins more of the time but you could be right.

Well, soccer fans are horrendously blind then. And I am a soccer fan. You have not provided much other than ad hom attacks in this thread. What he's referring to is a glaring flaw in the sport. Every sport aside from American football has significant flaws.
I would say that this is pretty far off base. I love american football and watch it more than soccer, which I watch and play quite a bit of. But to say that american football doesn't have significant flaws is laughable. The rules of football are constantly in a state of flux to fix what players, spectators, coaches, businessmen, and advertisers want the game to look like. No one can agree on who you can hit, where you can hit them, how you can hit them, what does holding look like, what is possession of the ball, and on and on. Don't get me wrong, I love it, but the number of rules is mind-boggling. They're constantly changing because they're unfair to quarterbacks, then to receivers, then to defenders, and so on.
I think most that love soccer would agree that the beauty of the game is in its simplicity. The lack of rules that dictate how you can play and strategize allows for many different approaches to the game. If you want to approach with an all out attack, fine. You want to defend and counter, that's cool too. Your choice. But no one is going to change the rules of the game because someone is crying about how someone else plays it.

Most experts agree that the 90 feet in baseball is the perfect distance.
That was what.... 130+ years ago? That seemed to work out okay.
Nothing is "wrong" with soccer. If you don't like it, don't watch it.
I don't watch golf. I don't like to watch it. I think it's boring. They shouldn't "change" golf to make it more entertaining to me. I can get with the program or GTFon down the road, because there are plenty of people who DO like it.

They have no chance, if the better team can score when they have the chance to. 85% of Penalty kick takers score on their shot. If Robben scores, Bayern wins. If any of those 40+ shots go in they win. I find it more impressive that Chelsea can be so efficient with their opportunities that when they are presented with one, they make sure it counts.

Respectfully disagree. Watching every single bottom table team try this against the top 5 in the EPL and them having little to no success with it proves my point. Sure every once in awhile it may work in that situation, but almost anyone with any knowledge of the game would attribute it to the top 5 team shitting the bed and not caring about the game, more than the other team earning it.
In other words, what I'm trying to say is it's usually not the tactic of the counter attack that decides it, but the lackluster performance of the big team who has to play some no name that weekend.

They missed an epic opportunity while Jefferson was here, we could have just saved that football scholarship and transferred it to soccer

All the extra money the AD has goes into the Quiddictch team.

Louisiana has never even had a Regional championship team
I stand by my statement that if you get the top 5 LA players every year and while picking up some great players around the region that you will have a very competitive team. I think about 25-30 players leave the state to play college ball out of state.

Alabama's Mens soccer team would be great if they could get the people from BUSA in Birmingham its 1 of the best Club teams in the Country regardless of age

I think you're trying to hard to find an argument here. I think the other posters have pretty much covered everything.
Not trying to hate but how much soccer do you actually watch? I can't ever recall a serious soccer fan who watches the sport regularly that uses this argument.
Like sheep said, the beauty is in its simplicity and the different approaches it allows for. Counter attacking teams are not a problem but a challenge that good teams should be able to overcome.

What next, they're going to build soccer-only stadiums in major cities?
BBVA in Houston looks pretty cool. I've always had fun at the Dynamo games when they played at U of H. I can't wait to go to a game at BBVA.
Went to the American All Stars vs Man U a couple of years ago too in Reliant. It was a full house....lots of fun.
Man-U is to soccer as the Yankees are for baseball. The fans come out of the woodwork from everywhere. I was shocked at how many Manchester fans showed up for that game.
Do the Baton Rouge Capitols still play at Kenilworth park?
