I dont like or dislike Jim. I dont think he is a quality announcer voice wise or knowledge wise. It has nothing to do with if I personally like him or not. I know and like Charlie Hannagriff and while I think he would be a definite improvement over Jim I would not be in favor of Charlie being LSU's full time announcer. He has great knowledge but in my opinion Charlie doesnt have a good radio voice either. I would like LSU to have an announcer with a good radio voice and knowledge right now we have neither.

Charles hanagriff is a knowledgable guy, no doubt.
However as far as enthusiasm and "voice" goes he doesnt hold a candle to Jim... and for me as a casual listener to games on the radio, that is far more important than always getting every call right.
Ive said this before, thats why charlie, kevin ford, and doug have jobs,.... to help JH.

i love jim he does make mistakes but so does everyone the other guys don't get into the game at all. they have zero emotion. they may be knowledgeable but they are very boring.

Anyway, Hawthorne gets more jacked up when the other team scores.
Yesterday while listening to the SLU game this happened..2nd and 3rd, two outs....groundball hit to short, Hawthorne says "Groundball to short, he can't get the runner at home, throws to first and that'll retire the side"
I was like WTF? I didn't know the correct play WAS to throw to the plate with 2 outs and a runner at 3rd.
Ochinko hit one waaaaaay back only to be caught at the warning track.

Once again I dont hate, like or really care about Jim Hawthorne. I care that LSU is presented by a professional and capable broadcaster!!! I do find it curious that no matter who criticizes Jim's ability certain people such as Cornholio attack them. They dont defend Jim's abilities (of course that would be very difficult) they just attack the poster. Which tends to suggest they know not able to defend Jim just have some personal interest in him.

Again Tigerdew attacks the poster because he knows defending Jim's lack of ability is much more difficult. I dont believe anyone attacked you. This thread is about when will Jim H retire why dont u comment on it instead of attacking every poster who criticizes Jim!!!!!

I like to feel like I know exactly what is going on in the game, and I don't get that from Hawthorne. Most of the time I am listening to JH my inner monologue is like this "What the frick is going on here"
