The success rate of coaches following a coach that has won a NC is not good. In the last 30 years, only 3 coaches that followed a coach that won a NC, won one themselves: Jimmy Johnson, Dennis Erickson and Les Miles.
And coaches with impressive resumes at one school can fail at another. Look no further than Rich Rod at Michigan, and Skip Holtz at USF. It can be argued that LSU has never hired a coach with a better resume prior to LSU than this guy...
