GeorgeWest = One of the new breed of sanitized LSU "Johnny Come Lately Wine & Cheese Leave Early" fans.
Probably loves day games and piped-in music, leaves at half-time/3rd Quarter, doesn't care if LSU finishes every season in 3rd place in the SEC West, wears a lot of Toonces clothing, spends most of the game texting to friends.

I absolutely see your point. I believe that Clemson is a good as it was this year because their quarterback is off the charts good like Auburn was with that pay to play quarterback the year they won the NC. I think they will take a step back and be beatable now. I honestly think that if we play them in the near future the Bengal Tigers win and the media swirling around who is the loudest "Death Valley" would be great marketing to put butts in the seats, sell Tee shirts etc...

We have home-and-home's scheduled with Texas (2019, 2020), UCLA (2021, 2024), Arizona St (2026, 2029) and Oklahoma (2027, 2028).
Could slide a Clemson home-and-home right in between the UCLA games or in 2025.

Big 12 was the problem. They were the weakest of the Power 5 conferences this year, so Oklahoma going undefeated in conference couldn't make up for even 1 loss.
But if you don't play quality non-conference opponents, then you risk having a repeat of 2014 when Baylor got left out of the playoffs because they played one of the softest non-conference schedules in the country. If you want to be in the playoffs, you can't be afraid to play quality non-conference games. Look at it the other way...if LSU beats Clemson, then loses to Bama in the regular season and finishes 11-1 but finishes 2nd in the West then having some strong wins against the rest of the West and a non-conference team like Clemson could give LSU enough in the eyes of the committee to put them in the top 4. Ohio State proved that the committee is willing to select a non-champion if they think that team is one of the best 4 teams.
