All of these excuses don’t explain Hellmers at 3B to start, the use of Bianco, Crews leading off, or the mismanagement of Fontenot.

With this I think Hellmers at 3B was obviously a mistake that has been fixed so I’m not too worried about that. Bianco being the everyday SS and Crews at least not being tried in different spots in the lineup is really frustrating. Those are things he should absolutely being tinkering with. I think it’s tough with Fontenot because he was considered a top 3 pitcher on staff coming into the year and he just hasn’t performed

I think Paul sucks overall and it’s time for a change, but losing a weekend series to Oral Roberts doesn’t freak me out. They’ve had a successful program and got pumped up this past weekend to beat us.

In 97, which I believe to be our best team ever, Skip’s baws dropped two to UNO and got beat by NLU. It’s baseball, shite happens, which is why they play so many games in order to even things out.

Pitching looks good. Hill will be fine. Landon is our ace. Labas has looked better. We have plenty of young arm talent coming out of the pen - it remains to be seen how they'll handle high leverage conference innings. I like that we have some lefties. Fontenot hasn't been able to finish hitters. The stuff is still there. I think he'll be fine.

Hitting has been up and down, more up than down. I'm not all that surprised, considering how inexperienced these guys are. Oddly enough, but also not surprising, some of the more inexperienced guys are leading the way. Pitching is usually ahead of hitting early in the season but we've held our own. Gio has been missed, but Doughty was sorely missed this weekend. Bianco has needed to take a seat for awhile - I just don't get it. These hitters will either rise to the occasion in conference or get run into the ground.

Every SEC team will be built very similar to us. Experienced and talented front line pitching but otherwise inexperienced (and talented). It will come down to which teams' inexperienced players turn it up when the SEC lights come on.

We are an extremely young roster, so I'm not surprised nor am I worried about the early ups and downs. The talent is obvious, and I think as the season progresses this team will become a monster. There will be some hiccups, but I do think we're in for a great season.

With regards to Paul, I'm not a huge CPM apologist. I'm kind of indifferent, but I do think that LSU fans seem to be ready to run off successful coaches more than just about any fanbase not named Auburn. CPM is actually a great college coach by just about any metric. It's not the 90s anymore, and Skip Bertmans aren't happening anywhere. We want to recapture the magic of that decade, but that was so unique and unrepeatable. I think we need to stop and appreciate what we have in the current college baseball landscape. We have it good, really good, great even. It's healthy to enjoy good times as they're happening every now and then. Geaux Tigers! :)

CPM is an old school coach. People complain that CPM throws kids under the bus... do y'all not remember Skip telling kids "it's not your fault, it's my fault for recruiting you"? I mean, that was an ultimate FU to a player... but it generally worked to motivate them.

Today, these kids cry and their dads cry etc.

I don't think CPM has forgotten how to coach baseball... but I do think he is having trouble relating to the coddling these kids need these days.

CPM starting Bianco at SS is a fireable offense.

Same as it’s been the last decade. Pawl WILL never play gorilla ball because that’d be him copying Skip. So he recruited midgets and turned LSU into a small ball school except we couldn’t hit or run bases. His pitcher handling is laughable at BEST and when the time comes that he actually has to make any decision under pressure he bust like a pipe. It’s a complete modern wonder that someone had kept a national power stuck in mediocrity for well over a decade and still has a job and the backing of a cult still hanging on to the dynasty that pawl destroyed.

I am old school when it comes to baseball. Strong up the middle, hitters at the corners, closely manage your pitching staff. I am more concerned with the issues in the middle of the infield and the experiment in center field than some of the pitching issues. But, I know from experience that poor coaching choices can destroy a good team. Some of his choices make no sense, looking almost like choices with no real thought behind them.

My thoughts:
It's time to start the most talented players regardless of experience, seniority, trust, or Paul's idiotic "hunches." The team won't win consistently until Paul removes his own stupidity from the equation.

Loads of potential especially in the young guys but Pulmonary will ruin whatever momentum this team has later in the season like he has done the past decade with his decisions. He'll be the reason we lose something like a tight regional like he always does. He's practically guaranteed to make the most boneheaded make absolutely no sense decision whatsoever to give us at least 1 loss in a series that will run us out of either the CWS, supers, or regional.

Then he'll blame all his players instead of himself.

Difference is Skip told this to a guy standing on the mound that later came out by the player in a interview years later. Not to a national new outlet to try to cover his own arse. Don’t you dare compare anything Skip did to this idiot. DONT YOU DARE. You and your god damned Pawl cult has brought this problem to LSU. So hope you enjoyed the last decade because it’s on you.

Hill looks great with the one exception against Oral Roberts, Marceaux looks great and Labas looks good.

Overall a great starting weekend rotation.

the only issue pitching has is finding who will be our shutdown closer.

Pitching wins championships and i have all the confidence in the world in our pitchers.

It is not out of the range of whats normal to not have your day in and day out line-up 12 games into the season.

They are 9-3 on the year and will only improve.

Not bad. Our weekend rotation has been solid. Our young pitching looks to be like a Steller group for the future. I think our veterans in the bullpen will be fine. I'm anxious to see what group of guys CPM lands on during SEC. Still have some questions marks regarding LF and 3b, assuming Gio and Doughty come back healthy.

bullshite. Everyone knew this happened on a regular basis at LSU, at the time. We just didn't have social media / tRant to discuss it.

It's well documented that Skip was an insanely demanding coach to play for. And, he had a huge temper and quite a grasp on the English language.

Tell me, how many "national outlets" were coving college baseball when he was coaching? Do you member when the only college baseball game on national tv was the CWS championship? I member.

because there was a stiff breeze blowing in from center field. I knew there weren't going to be any home runs and that we would have to hit-and-run and gamble a bit to get guys into scoring position.

LSU had 9 Fly/Pop-up Outs along with 9 Stikeouts for the game.

Maybe coach should have told this to his team BEFORE the game..
