JJ has played bad.
The WRs have played bad.
The offense in general has committed too many penalties.
Crowton is not tailoring his play calling to the strengths of his offensive personell.
Lee has sucked worse in his significant game time since he has been at LSU. Believing he will be some savior of a QB is just more Hope & Change bull shite. Obviously there is a chance he could have miraculously gotten better; however, there is no logical reason for the optimism.
Ridley has been an All-SEC stud.
Things that would probably fix the offensive problems:
1. WRs catching perfectly thrown balls.
2. WRs running routes correctly.
3. Cutting out ridiculous penalties.
4. Running the ball more.
5. Stop running the option and running the ball out of the shot gun.
6. Play Jefferson mainly under center.
7. Roll Jefferson out of the pocket.
8. Make the majority of Jefferson's throws based off PA.
6-8 should help Jefferson with confidence and limit his mistakes. If Miles feels Lee could actually run the game plan better then start him.
If we would lean heavily on the power run game and the WRs would make the easy catches we would be more than fine.
FWIW, I think I am more disappointed in Gonzales coaching the WRs then any other coaching job on our team.
I am not afraid to say this, but wanted to comment on the discussion.

I thought the Rant was down on posters that say a LSU player sucks or has sucked or any other conjugation of the word suck regarding one of our LSU players. This does need to stop. All LSU players deserve respect.

What I am too afraid to say? The only thing I'm afraid to do is rip this post as much as I want to purely because I don't want to be seen as following in your ignorant footsteps. You defend the seniors by saying they deserve better than Jefferson's performances, which is the one redeeming quality of your post.
But you condone booing the 20 year old who I guarantee works as hard as any one of those seniors? Jefferson doesn't enjoy all the negative press he's getting and I'd bet my arse he's doing all he can to get better. Now he's definitely not getting the job done yet but will booing him and shattering any confidence he has left help him improve as a quarterback and as a leader? Hell no.
It's the coaches' job to play the quarterback that will put LSU in the best position to win, and if you feel that Lee is the guy then take it up with the coaches. But booing any player for their performance is classless, pathetic, and means you don't know how to truly "care" about this team. So feel free to dismount that "high horse" of yours that makes you feel like you're speaking on behalf of all the fans. Check out Mike Linebacker's post if you wanna see how you should've handled your frustration.

For the record, I never said I wanted the kid to get hurt. I said that he is a good kid off of the field, one that lsu could be proud of and use as an example of what is right in college football, but he is not getting the job done

I was never on a high horse, and tell me who doesn't think this? If not, then you are making excuses for this kid. Why are we babying him? Miles didn't care when Flynn was booed, booty was booed (haha). He isn't the first lsu player to be booed, stop acting like it. And nwsflash, go to other schools in the sec, they boo too ( surprised face?). But maybe it is fault for trotting him back out there

I would take 1 pick 6 every game BUT 2 or 3 TD passes every game over 0 TD passes and <100 yards passing every game.
The bottom line is even the semblance of a passing game would open up the run even more and our offense, with a DECENT passing game would be a force to be reckoned with. Then factor in the additional rest the defense would get and you have the recipe for an SEC Championship caliber team.
Great teams are never totally one dimensional.
Everyone acts like in 2008 J. Lee was so terrible. The interceptions were bad but last I checked our offense was infinitely better than it has been with JJ under center.
In 2008 the real problem was the defense, NOT Lee.

Lee may not be the answer, but he is now two years older in the system he struggled in. Put him in and let's see of he has improved. If not I will be one of the first to admit it.

This isn't meant to really support JJ; however, as a starter in 2008 JJ led the team to scores of 30 or more points in both starts.
Why people forget this is beyond me?
We really don't have a JJ problem, but more of a offense in general problem. Ridley has been really the only big bright spot of the offense.
I am open to playing Lee some, but I don't have just some baseless optimism that he is will be awesome.

Passing game and any type of optimism in the same sentence?

I'm not saying we should "baby" him and tell him he's doing a good job, because he's not. Everyone realizes that. I'm saying that booing him isn't going to make him play better and that even if he plays awfully his best effort shouldn't be booed. If his best effort is that bad then the coaches are to blame for leaving out on the field, but I can't imagine Jefferson isn't doing his best to prove tiger nation wrong. I think he's just not a good QB yet, maybe hell improve but he's definitely not there yet.
And justifying booing by saying other schools do it also is just dumb, how bad would you tear Jefferson a new arsehole if in an interview he said "C'mon man, plenty of schools suck at throwin the ball, it must be acceptable." If you expect the best from him, then give the program your best and support this team. I agree that hes doing poorly, all I'm saying is booing him just disheartens the team and can only hurt his confidence and our chances of winning. Miles isn't going to sub him out because you boo, so Jefferson will just have more adversity to deal with and it won't bode well for our season.

The BOOers would probably boo a kid at the special olympics too.
I saw somewhere else that someone said, If you are dissatisfied with the coaching or play calling then use another word instead of BOO to let them know the dissatisfaction.
I also believe in the give Lee a chance proposition. Booing just sucks
