LSU fans were really happy? There was neither mass hysteria nor riots if that's what you're looking for. Both titles were won in New Orleans so of course the Quarter was a little wilder than normal for a random January evening.
IIRC Southern won the Black College National Title in 2003 as well and there was a joint parade for them and LSU in Baton Rouge. People were very proud of their teams.
In 2007 there was a celebration in Tiger Stadium some time in January or February. It was colder than frick. Esteemed former BR mayor Melvin "Kip" Holden said something along the lines of "I went from a soul brother to a cold brother to a fudgecicle".
