I know it is a body of water, but what makes it a brook? Is it like someone calling a pasture a meadow? Or, is it because it is stoney?

Well a brook could be a girl. It could be a small stream of water. And it can be the failed attempt at spelling broke.

Why is it stoney instead of rocky. Is it similar to a tre nos?

I'm in my 40's and was born in N.O. and I hadn't ever heard of a "coulee" until last year

Regardless of the proper definition, damming of said "Stoney Brook" will commence at 12:00 noon CST.

Between a crick and a bye...

Are people with a connection to Louisiana poking fun at the way other people talk or name things?

Stone Brook was the inventor of the coat hanger.
of course his nickname was stoney.
he gave millions to start the school so that his daughters would not have to leave home.

Yea, but what a simple little name for a school. You would have thought someone would have said bad idea but here they are.
