I think we'll mostly contain him in the pocket and make him throw to beat us, with a few blitzes to keep him off balance. Hurts mostly beat us with his legs in his Bama days.
Expecting our defensive ends to do a better job of staying at home to contain misdirection runs. Hope we learned our lessons from Ole Miss!

Aranda said “Hurts likes to put his foot in the ground quite a bit, where I think Plumlee is more of a straight line guy, I think Hurts will try to set you up and cut it back on him.” His weaknesses are turnovers and accuracy. If we can stop the run decently and force Hurts to make accurate throws on Cover 2 Man Stevens, Delpit, Stingley, Vincent, Flott or Fulton will hopefully have an INT, which will swing the game in our favour. If we can generate pressure Hurts has shown that he cannot keep the ball secure. I expected K’Lavon Chaisson to be crucial as our best pass rusher. Lastly, we’ve already played him at Bama and lost 10-0. Some of our players were on that team last time and most importantly Dave Aranda was. If we hold them to 10, there is no way Oklahoma can beat us with their Defense. If we get into a shootout I doubt Oklahoma can beat us.

Man coverage on the outside with single high safety and # 7 playing close to the line spying on hurts. That’s what I believe will happen.

Put an extra rusher to force him to his non throwing side, double Lamb and figure out who the secret go to pass catcher is when Hurts doesn't have his primary target

quote:You sure about that? This isn't Hurts at Bama. Hurts is right at 72% completion rate and 7 ints. That's not a weakness. He's 4th in the nation in completion percentage. While he may not get that high of a completion rate versus LSU, he has definitely improved under Riley and should not be underestimated.

Game plan is to not let Hurts get back to the line of scrimmage.
Is there an echo in the room?

Delpit is too good of a coverage safety to have him spying every play

Be particular about when to apply pressure and play contain the QB for the most part. This forces Jalen to beat you with his arm. He will have some plays, but when he runs is where he beats you. This is how they played him in the past when the LSU offense couldn't score and the defense was on the field for 35+ mins a game. It was pretty successful until the 4th quarter when the defense eventually wore down.

As many have said, force a shoot-out, drastically limit his rushing yards.
This strategy seems obvious. Should be a great game.
