Whenever they do build a new arena or renovate the PMAC I think it should look like Cincinatti's renovated arena, from what I have seen it looks to have everything that would make all fans happy: suites, open concourse, seats more on top of court, etc. Obviously it won't look exactly like it but should be built with that concept. It seats 12,000.

Fifth Third Arena fly through

Would be kinda weird if LSU’s court had a Cincinnati logo on it but maybe that’s just me

Something that doesn’t look like a flying saucer.

Agreed. But if it gets us a new arena, it's at least worth considering.

I wish we would build a new arena.

I like the layout of that Cincinnati gym.

I would give the P-Mac to women’s sports and rename it after Sue Gunter. We could add DD Breaux’s name to it after she retires.

That lower level is what we have in the P-Mac why would you want to add nosebleeds?

Is that legal? Thought men and women had to share per regulations

UK women play in their on campus gym instead of Rupp. So it must be okay.

But it doesn't make much financial sense for LSU to build a $100 million arena for 15-20 home games for men's basketball. Has to be a multi-use facility to work.

Nothing about that gym is like the PMAC

Wrong. Seats in lower level are not any closer to court than in PMAC. Big complaint of many on this board and copying that would not fix it.

Not that it needs fixing. PMAC is fine the way it is to me. I'm perfectly happy with my seats 5 rows from the top. Can see great. Only problem is concessions suck.

Its not just that the seats are far away but how far the upper deck seats are, the upper deck seats should be more on top of the court and built up instead of built back like the PMAC. This arena also a huge open concourse, more floor seats, box seats, suites, club seats, and a student section on both sides.

Eh. It still has the ability for fans to walk around a courtside aisle.

have you ever seen that building from the outside. the architecture of that building is completely different than pmac. i'm not an architect but, i don't see how the pmac could be renovated like that. the pmac would probably be more like ill, ga tech, etc.

better than what? the new state farm or mcamish? no frickin way. have you seen those 2 arenas? the renos are really well done. plus, there is legit premium seating. pmac is antiquated in this regard. doesn't affect me but i'm sure lsu feels it.

this is a tricky discussion that has been in local media multiple times. when the cajun dome was built, pmac started losing the big acts. then smoothie king. so, do you build an arena in b.r. with cajun dome and smoothie king right down the road? does it get built on campus or off campus with the help of the city/parish? no easy answers there.

I personally love the idea of an intimate, fieldhouse style 9,000 seater at the Cow Palace site, but if they choose to renovate the PMAC without altering its footprint, something like what Georgia Tech did is probably the best case scenario. They did a really nice job transforming it while keeping the circular layout. Total cost was $45 million:
