What is your favorite Non-SEC Stadium/Trip
Posted by 314stunna

Hit me with your favorite non-sec football stadium/campus to see a game at. Doesn't have to even be a power 5.
I have crossed most of the big time stadiums in the SEC off the list. Looking to branch out a bit.

I had a blast in Seattle a few years ago. UW has a really pretty campus with a unique stadium.

It wasn't for a game, but Nebraska was cool. We took a day trip to Lincoln on LSU's off day at the College World Series in 2015. It has the old mystique like Tiger Stadium does, but they keep the place up with pressure wash and fresh paint. They have an impressive sellout streak too. I think it's over 350 games in a row now.

Athens was fun a few years ago. I was still pretty lame and young then and didn't make the most out of the trip.
Knoxville last season was my favorite trip so far though. Found an awesome tailgate with dual pianos, full bar, and boiled shrimp. Was the most fun game day.
ETA: oh just reread the title lol

In 2004, for some reason #4 Cal went to Hattiesburg to play USM.
I got tickets around the 30 yd line, maybe 20 rows up.
Drove right into town, to a Mexican restaurant across the highway from the stadium. Ate there and walked across the street to the game.
Concessions there at the time served some unusual stuff like turkey legs and boiled peanuts.
Game was pretty good. Walked back across the highway to the truck and drove straight out of town with no traffic delays.
If I lived closer I might get season tickets there.

ATHENS is a fun town but the traffic going back to Atlanta after a game is 10 times worse than tiger stadium traffic
FLORIDA is easily the worst...you can't walk around and drink...you have to stay on private property or an over packed bar...no wonder there fans love coming here to tailgate...also never saw anything special about gainesville

Michie Stadium at the United States Military Academy. If you go to a game in October, the leaves are all in full peak autumn colors; the traditions and pageantry of the Corps is extremely unique compared to other college campuses; and the weather mostly cool and comfortable. Only a little over a hour from downtown Manhattan, so it can be tied into a trip to NYC for a longer weekend. I really want to go back as an adult because my last trip up there for a game weekend I was 15, I think...
1) Ohio State day + night game. It was a fun pre-game and a wall-of-red in the stadium. They smacked Penn State, so that helped. The assembly at the old basketball arena, aka Skull practice, and the bands entrance into the underbelly of the stadium, plus seeing the dotting of the eye.
2) Penn State - Speaking of Penn State. Saw then beat ND. Great field of tailgating also
3)Oregeon - It is loud, although not LSU loud, and the outside the stadium tailgate was ok, and the Oregon cheerleaders are probably my faves. Saw them beat Purdue to open the 2009 season at Autzen.
4)Notre Dame - The atmosphere is hard to keep off the list. In 2007 (I think) I saw them in a classic luck of the Irish comeback win in OT against Wash State.
5) Clemson - Walking on the campus pre-game with the sea of rabid orange everywhere was special. Saw them play NC State. Stadium was nice, and from high up, I watched water skiing in the adjacent waters.
I could go on, but those are off the top of my head.

South Bend / Notre Dame was amazing, saw vs Purdue
Tallahassee / FSU was fun, saw vs Duke
University Park /Penn State was great, saw vs Michigan State
Lincoln / Nebraska was okay, saw vs McNeese State. The game was actually good, McNeese almost pulled it out.
Still would like to see an Ohio State vs Michigan at the big house.

Hate to admit it but Notre Dame. Incredible experience. Went on Thursday and stayed through the weekend. It’s definitely not a party atmosphere on par with LSU but it’s a damn good time...with a campus that looks like a meticulously landscaped, old European village...pretty incredible.
Close second...Florida State...mostly because of the scantily clad, talent rich environment!

Kinda reminds me of a bigger Duke’s campus. I’m a big Duke basketball fan. Their campus is beautiful, and Cameron Indoor is second to none.

The game against Hawaii on 9/15 or on 10/20 against Miami (OH) are your best bets for good weather games. IMHO, I would go to the game in October if you are only able to make one this year: fall weather (highs in the upper 50's/low 60's) and autumn foliage still near peak. If you get upper deck tickets(not a huge stadium, so these are not bad seats) you will have a really awesome view of the mountains/trees/landscape of the campus on top of watching the game.
