What is so sacred about an open week before Bama

It hasn't helped in recent history. Doesn't everyone in the SEC have an open date before they play the Devil himself?

Will never understand how things become set in concrete when the results do not justify the mean.

if anything, it helps kids rest...mentally and physically...

Ive said the same thing. I'd like to see how the team responds when playing the weekend before Bama instead of being off. Routines stay the same and all. The bye hasn't done anything for the team for a while now.

I don't think stats support that a team does any better after a bye week. Certainly not in recent history with LSU and Bama. Real possibility you lose as much in consistency and momentum as you gain with rest.

I'd like to see our bye pushed to after the Bama game. That's when our players need the most rest mentally and physically. Schedule a powder puff the week before Bama.

Maybe they actually will do that this year since Miles won't be pounding them with ridiculously long practices.

I'd like to see what a competent coaching staff can do with a bye week before Bama. Miles used to run 80 play scrimmages during bye week and rarely took advantage of scheming.

"Here's the plan guys...we are gonna run all this stuff during the week and then do none of it. We are gonna run headlong into a pile of humanity for 60 minutes."

"Take the field!"

If Arkansas continues to be this physical it would be better to to have the week off after Bama. It would help us refocus finish stronger whether we beat Bama or lose to them. Instead of pissing away late season games.

Why does everyone keep saying it hasn't helped?

Nothing. They have a bunch of pussies who think 19 yr olds need rest!

It's hilarious

Scheduling an open date (or a cream-puff) before an outstanding opponent is the optimal approach for all of the major SEC schools.

You probably recall Saban getting the SEC to intervene and prevent too many SEC opponents from having open dates the week before they played Bama? He did that because he thinks it affects the outcome.
