What is it you want people to do?

This isn't football or baseball, programs where it was established we could consistently win at the highest level.

It isn't women's basketball, where the field is relatively open (maybe 4 "elite" programs at very most), and we had just brought in one of the top tier coaches (I would say Mulkey, Staley, Auriemma are in that tier, in whatever order).

It's men's basketball. Dale had us as a respected, ranked team (made the tournament and challenged Kentucky), but his peak was Final Fours, not titles. And then we got hit with probation. Brady rebuilt that, but again the top was a Final Four, while an SEC rival (Florida) was winning back-to-back natties. Trent Johnson floundered, Johnny Jones floundered; we made a couple NCAA tourneys, but couldn't get out of the first weekend.

Wade came in and we- still were stuck in the first weekend. Then everything imploded, and there's really no denying that. Our program got napalmed, though not with direct NCAA sanctions... we actually felt we were lucky to get McMahon to come in here, remember? Everyone knew it was bad.

So his first season was terrible, and everyone loses their minds about it. We're competitive this year, not with top teams, but middle of the pack. This year is better than I expected, if not what I would like.

Even if you think McMahon isn't the answer, if you fire him now, you telegraph to all the potential applicants "you only get 18 months before your a** is on the line."

No coach worth his salt is going to want to walk into an immediate hot seat like that. If nothing else, Woodward needs to give McMahon the leash to hang himself with if only to prove to the next guy that he's willing to stick with him.

(Yes, Big Time coaches like B Kelly or DeBoer to Bama have their butts on the line immediately, but they also walk into pretty full cupboards. LSU Men's Basketball is ... not that).

All I know is tonight in the PMAC was as much fun as I've had at an LSU basketball game in a loooong time. Hope the excitement continues to grow and the PMAC becomes what it once was.

One guy in particular trying to gaslight the board when he’s been the most anti-LSU basketball / anti-Woodward / anti-McMahon poster here for three months

The OP is a dipshit of massive proportions.

This thread is satisfying as hell to read after the win tonight...
