i understand. my point being that any college player, and probably most who aspired to continue at the next level likely did the same thing. just saying that Larson had no advantage over players he competed against. in fact those who didn't were at a disadvantage. so at that time who is to say that 50,60, or 80% of the players in college baseball didn't jack themselves up. We weren't the only team back then slamming balls out of the park, everyone was, we were just a little better at it.

Larson was on the Red's roster several times over a few yrs, but he kept getting bit by the injury bug & could never stay healthy for a full season. When healthy, as I recall, his stats were good enough to stay in the bigs. Still remember he & Berkman, for Rice, battling it out for the season HR title. Larson lost by only a few HR's but Berkman obviously has had the better career in the pros.

If we could get Brandon as the hitting coach, he would have to be a major upgrade to javi. I doubt he could be worse.

Huh, he kinda sucked at the big league level...
Almost 300 AB (291 actually) and he hit .179/.271/.299
His best season was 2002 when he managed 51 at bats and hit .275/.362/.549

He did hit 189 minor league home runs with a respectable .287/.345/.521 line.
