this is a thread about consistency, objectivity, and hypocrisy

All fans are hypocritical depending on which team you root for.

We forced a turnover / We committed a turnover

We missed a field goal / We kept them scoreless after reaching the redzone

We overthrew an open receiver / We stopped them on 3rd down

etc.

No doubt LSU fans would be ripping those teams and saying they shouldn't be ranked so high.

Now and even better question is, if Alabama or USC had a coach that was 80-18 in his 8th season, would they have fans that routinely ridicule and blast him? Did Florida fans rip SOS for being stubborn and not making adjustments when they lost the NCG to Nebraska 62-24 for example.

no. There are still idiots on this board who think Miles is better than Saban.

I love how the Coaches Cavalry rides to defend, yet again, another piss poor performance by the StudLes offense...all the while avoiding the question of the thread because the real answer is that they would rip Bama and Saban.

Hypocrites are hypocrites.

"Struggle to beat" is the wrong terminology and you and everyone else here knows it

This game was never in question and no one on the face of this planet thought Towson was going to win that game. Matter of fact, IMO, that was one of the problems with the type of effort put forth.

So, taking "struggling to beat" a I-AA team out of the question and saying what you really mean by saying "letting a I-AA opponent hang around and giving them them the illusion they can play with the elite."

Ga Southern last year vs Alabama.

That game was never in question and neithe was last nights.

It's a stupid question because Bama comes out ready for every game and they don't struggle against 1AA teams. Yea ULM a few years back but nothing since and especially not when they are competing for an SEC/National Championship.

The generic Georgia Southern reply actually works out really well here. Oh and mighty, storied Utah

Sorry to interrupt this hypocrisy lesson, but the subject isn't quite accurate. We didn't struggle to beat Towson. We struggled to blow them away in commanding fashion. We didn't achieve the only acceptable outcome, which was complete annihilation.

Personally, I don't rip teams for not dismantling inferior opponents to the point of absolute devastation, so I am not in need of this lesson. I actually don't like the idea of FBS teams playing FCS teams.

it's no different than the anti-Miles frat pack slobbering to slam post after an ugly win (regardless of the opponent).

for the record, i see the concern and some of the team trends this year are very troubling.

but the bottom line is LSU folks over analyze and under appreciate.

To be logical - objectivity has no proper place in being a fan :).

The whole choice of being a fan of a particular team is an emotional choice made without a logical analysis.

We are going to support our team and look for reasons as to why the team is going to win and why we can explain the failures and why it won't happen again - just like parents or friends tend to find excuses or deeper understanding as to the root of issues and have ready solutions.

We support "A Team - LSU" whatever be the reason.

IT is extremely illogical to try and prove a contrary point in an already biased situation!

So yes - the team does have issues, but hope springs eternal that if it didn't resolve in the last played nth game - it is going to be figured out by the n+1th game.

don't insult Utah by comparing them to a 1AA opponent. UTah had already won a BCS bowl game prior to the one v. Bama

What in your mind made Towson a pitiful 1AA team?
Their team was 2-1 coming in. Just asking.

And dont forget 12 transfers from top 25 schools. But no they obviously sucked despite the winning record and refusal to quit. This board should be locked until after saturday. No one cares that Michigan and Arkansas are garbage and Ole Miss shot themselves in the foot. Or that everything that could go wrong went wrong this season, its LSU sucks, Nick Saban is the second comming of Christ and if the team doesnt win by 50 every game no one is allowed to enjoy a victory. There are more fair weather LSU fans than the Nationals, Rockies, and Marlins combined.

I agree with this.

Also, the majority of posters seem to be completely dejected about the win. It was actually semi-depressing to read the board last night. I didn't read too much today, so maybe I missed the posts that are defending the quality of the win.
