What happened to Rendon to cause him to fall?

I sit behind the first base dugout so I didn't have a good view of what happened. He was running for the pop up.....then he was on the ground.
Anybody know what caused him to fall? Did he step on the short stop's foot or trip on something in the bull pen throwing area? Did ESPN give any info? Hawthorne?

his teammate stepped on his foot

I heard he stepped on the shortstops foot

TV folks were saying they read his lips and Rendon said, "It's broken." That that FWIW.
It was pretty nasty. The teammate stepping on his foot wasn't that bad by itself, but Rendon was in the process of running, and that's what made it worse.

Uh....ok. One vote for him being the step-ee and one vote for him being the step-or.
Tiebreaker anyone?

I heard from the Rice folks that it was a fracture - prelimenarily I'm sure. Their team doctor happens to be a specialist on foot and ankle injuries so he's in good hands.
I saw him in the lobby of the hotel - he was smiling (and on crutches). Ankle was wrapped.
Stinks for him because he was selected to play for Team USA this summer. Hopefully, he will still be able to play.

From the replays I saw, it looked like the twisted it or had a strange footing on where his foot rolled to the inside as he made a step avoiding the SS.

Wanted to eat a hamburger b-4 the other 8 players got one?

his foot was stepped on, but that wasn't the problem. he rolled his ankle, so it's either a sprain, or perhaps a fracture.

I overheard Coach Bertman telling a reporter that Rendon's foot is broken.

Hawthorn said they had it x-rayed and it's broken.
This is probably better than being sprained because a break heals better from what I understand.

I really hate this for this kid. Awesome player, and from all accounts, a fine young man, too. Here's hoping he has a successful - and speedy - recovery. And that he gets drafted this year and we don't have to face him again!

He is right. Once a broken bone is healed, it's healed. A sprained ankle can nag you for a very long time. So please take your fail elsewhere.

not always.

so can a broken bone. On avg, you'll be out much longer from a broken bone than a sprained ankle.

you suck at blanket statements.
6-8 weeks for the bone to heal, plus at least a month of rehab to regain motion, strength, and balance.
If you think on avg that a sprained ankle is a worse injury than that then you are retarded.
