What Does Miles Bowl Record Tell us, if anything?

One of the few 'facts' on this board is that Miles has an exceptional, I mean exceptional record in bowl games.
Bowl games give him weeks to prepare (same as the other coach, by the way).
Bowl games typically pair evenly matched teams (so competition is strong and should not result in the many lopsided victories he's had).
Can we conclude that the reason for his success is because he has more time to roll up his sleeves and get into the game prep, the 'x's and 'o's? Could it be that his faults (if his 9-3 record is a fault) as a coach during the regular season are due to his handing the game over more to his assistants due to time constraints?
Discuss.

I have learned that if Miles has 30 days to prepare, LSU performs very well in a bowl game.

For one, I think after a grueling SEC schedule, we get a lot of guys back healthy.
Also, It takes a month to learn a games worth of Crowtons playbook. And Miles gets to go over it with a fine toothed comb.
I can wait for Gonzalez to get here. He should really help our offense.

I think it has more to do with the fact that we're not playing SEC teams. But, it is crazy how good we've looked in the bowl games under Miles, especially since there's been a few bowl games that we've been supposedly outmatched.

If we had a month between games, LSU would go undefeated. Pretty sad it takes a coach 30 days to come up with and implement an effective game plan.

It only takes two weeks when your OC is not on the same page as the head coach. With an off week we played very well against Auburn. With 2 weeks of prep, Alabama struggled with us. With the same 2 weeks of prep, Florida put 13 points on us. When receivers don't know how to line up in some of these exotic formations, it's not the head coach who deals with that. It's more an effect of the OC and the position he puts the personnel in. Ultimately the head coach is responsible, but he's not the one calling the plays.

rid of crowtgon and we dont need too much time to learn offense

Perhaps LM is bringing in Gonzales as a "coOC" to sweeten the pot and justify $$$.....this gives him a year to build relationships and learn the current state of the SEC.....while giving GC a year to improve or to search for other opportunities and then promote from within to fill the OC job.
The last thing the team needs is ANOTHER major overhaul and subsequent player learning curve.

It tells me that talent can do a lot when given a month to heal.

that he the more prep time he has the better he does in games. we need 12 bye weeks next year

2 coaches & teams play a football game. Both have the same amount of time to prepare. Miles so far has a perfect record at LSU.

Miles is 5-2 in bowl games, tells me he has a winning record

Miles has been at LSU 5 seasons, which is what matters to LSU.

No. That conclusion is based on a false premise earlier in your post...

While bowl games may "typically" pair evenly matched teams, ours haven't. Probably only Miami in 2005 was close to LSU in talent, and even they were starting to fall off in that category. Notre Dame, Georgia Tech and Ohio State were dramatically outmanned against LSU.
Typically, when a coach does much better in bowls than in other games, it suggests to me he's not a very good coach, especially when he virtually always has a huge talent advantage in the bowl games. It means it takes him a month to figure out how to use his overwhelming talent advantage to win instead of being able to do it in a week like good coaches do.
If my team is playing yours, and my coach is better than yours, I want there to be as little time as possible to prepare for the game because I know my superior coach will do a better job in the short time allowed. If your coach is better than mine, I want as long a time as possible to prepare so that even my slow-witted coach will have time to figure out what to do, and talent will prevail.

It tells us that we have been fortunate to play some very overrated teams.
-Miami = look what happened to Coker and staff.
-Notre Dame = I think we all knew what was going to happen going into the game.
-Ohio State = again, after the UF nat'l championship, we all knew we would win. it's not like we were matched up with a Texas, USC, OU, etc.
-Georgia Tech = stop the run and we win.

This but Crowton will be showing JJ what he wants done in one game for that long. NOT trying to prepare for a whole season. We'll look good. You have to give them props, noone thought we could get ready fro GT's offense and we nailed the coffin shut EARLY
