I agree with your statement fwiw, but name one stud that TJ missed out on (Gathers hasn't signed yet so I don't count him).

Galloway is pretty much it. One stud player available in 4 years, sucks we missed out, but it's not like TJ has missed out on a ton of studs that were licking their chops to come to BR.

I'm not saying there aren't good upperclassmen. You were making the argument that a team cannot be built in 2 or 3 years (or whatever the poster's statement was about quick rebuilds in CBB). THAT argument is very much flawed. Your stance that upperclassmen can also be solid foundations is not flawed, but that was not the argument you were making.

15 of the current Top 20 teams have a leading scorer that's a junior or senior.

No, I was contradicting the guy that said, "the NBA screwed up college basketball" and your Kentucky premise is fantastic..... but that's ONE program that builds with one and dones. A large part of the NCAA builds programs primarily without them.

This was the exact quote you used to respond to:

quote:

If your best player is in school longer than 2 years, he's not great.

He is pretty much correct. Just like UK is one of the only teams that can continually have a fab 5 of underclassmen, Duke and UNC are about the only teams in the country that have "great" players for 3 or 4. Even most of their really special players don't stay the full 4. Occasionally you'll find a Reddick or Hansborough, but those guys were considered to have major flaws coming out (being too white?).

That said, I think both of us were arguing tangents.

No, I was not. I'm not sure who you are thinking of, but it wasn't me.
