By “not won shite” you mean a natty. So let’s look at those options: Saban, Dabo, Kirby, Jimbo, Mack, and Meyer if you talk him out of retirement.

Exactly 0 of these are coaches we’d want that would also come here and not cost a frick ton. So we moved on to the next batch.

Kelly is absolutely in that group and was an unexpected steal. Who else would you suggest?

Lane Kiffin? Hasn’t won shite either and would not have us any better at this point.
Ryan Day? Not happening.
Lincoln Riley? Also hasn’t won shite and currently has his traditional great QB/stellar offense with a porous defense. Sound familiar?

Maybe, just maybe it just takes longer than 2 years to completely rebuild a program and we overachieved last season.

Why in the hell we paid so much for a coach who has not won shite

If by not win shite you mean a National Championship the only active coaches that qualified at the time Kelly was hired* were Nick Saban, Dabo Sweeney, Mack Brown and Jimbo Fisher. Saban and Sweeny were not leaving their current jobs so which of Fisher and Brown would you prefer

* Kelly was hired in early Dec 2021 Kirby Smart did not have a NC at that time he would win his first a few weeks later. He also was not leaving his job,

When LSU hired Nick Saban they made him the 3rd highest paid coach in CFB despite him not having won “Jack shite”. I imagine after getting pummeled by Ole Miss 35-24 at home in year 2 and sitting at 4-3 the OP thought it was a huge mistake to over pay.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe BK has the most wins among active college coaches.

Some of y’all are too caught up in the moment. BK was an excellent hire. The annual pay was in line with the market and his resume. The ONLY criticism I possibly have of the hire was the 10-year term, would’ve preferred 5-8

Quick…. Name me the last college coach that had won a natty that was hired away from the school where he had won the natty to another school.

You would rather Mack Brown than Kelly? Is that your argument?
shite forgot about him but he seems to be doing a good job at UNC which is by no means a football school and doesn’t have the fertile recruiting ground LSU does.

Yes he would have been a great guy to stabilize the program has always been a great recruiter. He would’ve been perfect on a 5 year deal with the understanding he would eventually turn over the reigns to one of his coordinators.

for years the assumption among fans, and apparently our ADs have bought into it, is that we are at the mercy of the agents and have zero negotiating leverage when it comes to hiring a fb hc, this pisses me off as much as making a bad hire and is a total crock of shite

Get away from the bar at OSOs before you post. I don’t know of many coaches who could have done much better only inheriting 39 scholarship players and try to sign a class in less than 4 months.
Now if he keeps up with crappy defenses two years down the road then I will start to question his coaching. He can sign the best four corners and safeties in this current class and they will not be ready to play at this level in their first year.

I can’t tell is something like this is a troll or just stupidity

There is no fricking way you could have sold 70 yo Mack Brown who most of you idiot’s probably bashed when he was at Texas.
