When you look at Steele's won/loss record as HC and DC it's not as impressive as Chavis coming in. I trust this is the opportunity he's now ready for. He certainly has the experience with an excellent staff to now excel like never before. My money is he will be exactly what we need.

This is a damn good perspective.

I was caught up on Pendergast, but the more I've looked at Steele's experience I think he is going to be a perfect fit and excel in BR.

The guy is a natural born coach, even according to Saban. The idea that Saban just kept this guy around (twice) for his organization skills is absurd.

He's been around some of the greatest football minds, in college and the NFL, for decades now.

I think he is in a position in his career now, unlike previous stops, when he will be able to find himself as a coordinator, rather than trying to mimic what he thinks one of his mentors would do.

Age, and the confidence in the players at his disposal and support of a coach like Miles make this a perfect storn for a guylike DSteele to break out.

I think our fans are severely underestimating him, which of course is no surprise.

Can't wait for this 2015-2016 run

Nobody has any idea if this is true. Let's give the guy a chance before making a judgment.

OP asked for everyone's thoughts. It's a legit claim by some. I personally think he brings all that is needed to the job, plus some.

Then he could have worded it...

Don't feel he's the right guy for the job

prove it.........Thats right you cant

Just like anyone who says he is the right person for the job, cant prove they are right. You have to wait and see what he does.

Im a believer that LSU is what brings average/good DCs to the next level.

He gave up 70 points to West Virginia in a game. Go look up the stats in that game hoss. Put that in your pipe and smoke it...

Then go look at 2014 LSU vs Auburn Auburn just so happen to put on the brakes

Not sold on Steele, but love Coach O. I'm just going to reserve judgement until I see how the team plays out on the field.

Steele was HC and DC in 2 conferences that DGAF about defense. My thoughts are that much of the recruiting budget was spent on offense and he was severely lacking personnel. As for one bad game, they happen. Oregon and WV moved the ball on us, just didn't score much.

Give him time and see what he has.

That's because no one here has an original thought, and why they were stumping for DC's that they had never heard of

So since I said that I'm a dumbass? Just an opinion on his previous track record. I hope he pans out great and will gladly eat crow if he does. Very ignorant on your part.

I see Chavis leaving as a big positive

Na. The best case scenario was if we kept Chavis and added Orgeron to the staff.that would be on of the best staffs in all.of cfb.
Coach O on the dline, Chavis on the lbs, and Coach Cooper on the secondary. Thats a great staff

Simply looking at Steele's history, I am underwhelmed by his hire at a coordinator position. At the same time, he is surrounded with good defensive position coaches, and that could really help him.

Also, he has never been a coordinator with this much field talent and defensive assistant support, so I am cautiously optimistic about him.

Orgeron is a plus, and Steele, we need to see when the battle begins.
