So, it's more of a problem of the current coach's personality for you? He doesn't act an arse on the sideline or with the media so he's a terrible coach? He is a complete idiot because he acts calm and collected on the sideline? Now, I will admit that it would be nice to see him tear into a player or two and work the officials on occasion when it is deserved, but other than that I have no problem with the way he acts.

Not it at all. I would venture to think that it has something to do with that attitude AND how the team performs. Being Tony Dungy is great, but there has to be a direct coorelation with an improvement in the program. Yes, he won a NC, but that was by sheer luck AND after his team managed to play uninspired AT HOME, ON SENIOR DAY, ON NATIONAL TV, WITH A CHANCE TO SECURE THE BCS TITLE GAME WITH A WIN THE NEXT WEEK IN THE SEC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME, etc. That's just one example of that man not being able to effectively inspire those 85 kids to reach their enourmous potential. He recruits very well, but at the end of the day he doesn't show the ability to lead. That filters down to the coaching staff, to the players, the university, and then to the fan...like me.

We have come to expect a very high level at LSU. I feel that we are getting that with the exception of some questionable playcalling on offfense. It does get boring when you expect to have a shot at the big game, and now we are trying to just play into the Cap One Bowl. LSU football consumes me too, and we may finish in the top 5 for the 4th time in 5 years(with the exception of last year with the RP debacle). Long as we are in the mix every 2-3 years for a national championship, I am not sure how any ignorant fans can complain. Wanna go get a coach thats consistently gonna go 8-4?b/c we can

I find myself asking "wtf are they doing?" on offence a lot more. IMO this team needs to abandon this lame and useless offence and run a pro-style conventional scheme. They have all the pieces to do it with and god forbid if Jefferson goes down again, it would suit Interception Man a lot better. Two seasons is enough for me see this crap of Crowton's and know its just not going to work anymore.

But that said, I still enjoy LSU football very much.

My real thoughts?

That we will never be a dominant, respected team again.

Don't get me wrong - we'll be good...9-3, perhaps 10-2 good. But, in case some of you haven't noticed already, Alabama has supplanted us as the power in the SEC West, as well as a power on the national scale.

We're not that "feared" team we were 3-4 years ago. The defense isn't lights out, and will never be that way again. Miles will continue to recruit well, but will invariably under develop players, misuse talent, and lose games that he simply shouldn't have.

Again, we'll be a consistent 8-4, 9-3 team, with a 10-2 season thrown in every now and then.

But again, Alabama has replaced and surpassed us at this point.

The part that I ascribe to Les is the fact that he stuck with Crowton. And considering the Perillioux disaster, that's understandable. But in my mind this season's offense has made if very clear where our problem lies.

Gary Crowton.

Time to make a change Les before the change is YOU.

I doubt he has taken anything from you at all. Sounds like you never had any common sense to begin with and you have just become self aware of your inner ranter

Yep. And that sucks. And I also think I have the right to expect better. I'm not harping on any single game or any single season, it's the program as a whole with Les leading it. TAF will continue to expect checks from me every year and I will happily write them, but not without the feeling that I'm kind of putting my money in a pile that will eventually be set on fire.

Being passionate about something (whatever it is) is something that I think every person needs to find. Don't think for a second that this passion is the same as that for family, friends, etc. I'm talking about a passion for things such as art, or golf, or whatever "hobby" it is that gets us going every so often. My passion is LSU football and for that to be dwindled down a little sucks. I don't expect perfection, but I hope for the pursuit of it.

most of us don't step back and assess our thoughts on the program as a whole.
I would say that very few people on this board have enough access to the program to assess the program in any meaningful way. Watching a 3 hour game on saturday does not give you an in-depth look into the LSU football program. If you think it does then you have no clue as to what it takes to run a major program.

I agree. I support LSU and Miles, but I feel the same, and it is getting worse.

Les was given the keys to a ferrari, and I can begin to see him driving it in the red.

You are correct, and if he doesn't make the necessary staff changes he will have failed in that respect.

First off, let me say that, as a long time Tiger fan, I've seen some deluded people around the program.

Example: at the end of Curley's awful tenure, there were people sporting bumper stickers in BR in Summer '94 that said something like "We support Curley".

That said, and knowing I will be bashed by the "We support Curley" crowd (you are out there and you know who you are -- I did not support curley and didn't have that sticker):

I feel disinterested and find that the games are not fun to watch for the last two years for the most part. We don't dominate crap teams like we should (not every case but many), and make bonehead mistakes week after week. Meanwhile the coach just paces the sideline and shows little emotion.

Bringing in Chavis, I think everyone agrees, was a smart move. 12th ranked offense in the SEC is unacceptable for LSU. I hope Lesticles makes a move and fixes it like he did the defense.

I don't want him gone and I respect what he's done, but the lack of preparation, enthusiasm, and discipline on the field are alarming this year.

It is just not fun to watch the Tigers as it was in past years. We look sloppy and unmotivated in many games.

Doesn't speak well for the coaching and although Les may not be personally to blame, he is responsible for the product on the field. That is the bottom line and that product, although better than 80% of our opponents, is still not very good
IMO.

I'd rather see a team that can execute without making bonehead mistakes all the time. Mistakes that have me cussing the TV and slapping my forehead while watching the games.

I have given up my age-old tradition of drinking alcohol on Saturdays. Combining drinking with the slop on the field lately has proven, in my case, to be a volatile mix unfit for public consumption.

That said: I hope we win out, and Les makes a move to improve our offense for next year.

Flame away.

I want to believe those that say we're in good shape and that negatigers are overreacting. But I cant. My gut tells me we're heading in the wrong direction, and it's not going to turn around unless something major changes. I think at the very least, Crowton needs to go. After the 2007 NC game, I thought Crowton was a genius. His play calling against Ohio St was nothing short of brilliant. The buckeye defense was fricking clueless. I personally think that was the best game any OC has had for the Tigers, ever. Now, a short 2 years later, there is no creativity, no spark, nothing.
