You’re right and that’s the frustrating part of it. We do have hitters but CPM wastes so many hits and when you don’t have top flight power throughout the lineup it kills you vs upper level pitching. He doesn’t move runners over and he doesn’t set the lineup correctly which means we are a station to station team that always has our power scattered throughout the lineup. It gives opposing pitchers a greater margin for error and it allows the outfield to cheat up on us a lot. Notice how we always seem to be getting nailed on plays at the plate even with guys who run well? that’s the reason why. You have to have an identity on offense it can’t just be a mishmash lineup constructed from whatever CPMs gut is telling him that day.

If this team is not clicking by May I will then panic about them. There have been too many years of this for me to be worried about the team not being their best in Mid April. This team will inevitably make a run in May just wonder how much ground will they have to make up for at that point.

This sounds like something that would be said on an ESPN college football show. What in the actual hell are you talking about?

Each pitcher brings a different set of challenges and so, there is always going to be a different offensive approach especially when you add on top of that the strengths and weaknesses of your hitters and how well they are hitting the ball at the time of their at bat.

There's also the situation in the game with how many runners are on what base, the score, the inning and how the fielders are playing the batter and also how they are playing the situation.

I'm not sure what an offensive identity is in baseball.
