LOL, good one!
Good to know that at least one LSU fan thinks we have played a tough schedule thus far, hee hee.

I would love some recommendations from you guys on eateries. I and the people I am going with love to go out and have a good time.
You're in the heart of the Quarter, and for your 1st time to NOLA you can't go wrong. As with most tourist venues, don't stray too far from the general area on foot; cabs are reasonable and the safest way to travel around town. Tons of great restaurants in the Quarter - If you venture uptown try Minali's on Napoleon. Great Italian and Seafood, and world renowned for BBQ Shrimp. Most dress codes are casual, but Coat required for Commander's Palace (uptown), Antoine's and Galatoire's (Qtr.). Bayona ( 420 Rue Dauphine - Take Cab from where you are staying even though it is within walking distance) is a great Susan Spicer venue. Mother's on Poydras is a great place for a Po-Boy. For beer and oysters, Acme Oyster House (724 Iberville - Just off Bourbon St.) Dickie Brennan's Steakhouse (Canal St.) is excellent. If you are looking for something to do during the day, the WWII Museum Camp St. just off Lee Circle is well worth the time.
In BTR, Sammy's on Highland for a casual late lunch on gameday, given the game is not until 8pm local. College Campus venues include the Varsity on Chimes St (North Gates to LSU); Walk On's (food is ok) south of stadium on Nicholson Dr is a great place to cool off and grab a beer.
Parrain's (Great Seafood) on Perkins Rd just west of Acadian Thrwy; Strube's Steakhouse (Downtown), Ruffino's Italian (Highland Rd and I-10), Ruth's Chris' (College/Constitution & I-10), Gino's Italian (College & Bennington) are other places you can't go wrong if you have time.
Earlier posters were dead on when they say don't eat too much before you head to campus. You will be "over-served" with great food and hospitality by more than 100,000 wearing purple and gold. Enjoy, and spend lots of money.

From what I have seen/heard, WVU's O line isnt so hot this yr. Good DEs can beat the tackles as evidenced in Marshall game. To their defense, it was claimed Doc Holliday had his guys stealing signals(he coached for WVU last yr)
Geno is playing good(his comeback against Marshall is a confidence builder), and Jock/Austin catching ball. Jock had a shoulder problem I guess(I believe that was what is was), and unsure how he is. Devine is a beast, no need to elaborate.
WVU took a hit in their CB Hogan for a DUI. If he is still suspended it will hurt them.
LSU has been my team away from home since the coaching change at Michigan, and will be rooting even harder for you guys this coming weekend. Taking wife/kids to the Bowling Green game next week, so luckily this game is at night.
Unless LSU self-destructs, I got WVU losing by 7 - 10 pts due to that awesome homefield advantage, and overall better team depth of LSU.
If you guys rattle Geno badly(he is young), it might be a total blow-out...but not predicting as such.

How has the Deep Horizon affected the seafood availability and prices?

WVA is no threat to our fast, smallish defense. Bama's two monster backs scare me the most because they can run right over our small DE's. The "3 midget attack" will not work with Mingo and Co.

if you are concerned about your oline, it sounds like a disaster in waiting because that happens to be the strength of our defense this year. it seems like what you are touting as your biggest wins were against flat teams, uga was flat and overconfident as was oklahoma (they are always overconfident). both were flat because they thought they should have been playing for the national championship. i.e. they were not happy about being there. LSU will be happy to be playing at home in a big game. the uga game was a coming out party for the latest resurgence of the program, but really it was another game earlier that season that was on tv where pat white, slaton, etals ran all over someone. imo, smith can't run like white, although he looks like he will be a better passer in time; devine doesn't seem to play as big as slaton either; sanders does not play as big as ? (dude with bleached dreadlock tips or was that bess with hawaii). i really have enjoyed watching ya'll play the last several years and am excited to have ya'll in town. also i respect the hard work ethic of the people of wva, coal miners are tough as nails. probably the only game i cheered against you recently was the pitt game in '07.

With the exception of Oysters, nothing really of concern. There were still several beds still being harvested west of the Accident. You'll be able to find plentiful bounty anywhere you venture, and there has not been any significant increase in price.
Media hoopla sensationalism at it's best. Also, beer is still quite cold!! What is the duration of your trip?

Noel Devine fast.
will remind you of Demps.
Devine was 5 star.
not much else to worry about.
a decent, unimpressive team.
IMO They would be after Ark (better offense), LSU (better defense)
and Bama (better) in the SEC west, and after Florida (better defense)
IMO They are = Ga, USCe and Aubies. Which is to say, they can beat anyone if Devine has a big day, but will give up points.

Flying into NOLA 2pm on thurs, flying out of BR sun morning.
I agree with the media hoopla. My sister and her boyfriend live on the bay in the Mobile Bay/Gulf Shores AL area.
My wife and I went down to stay with them at the end of June. Hardly any oil at all, but a crap ton of "workers" sunning themselves on boats at taxpayer expense. Good work if you can get it I guess.
Actually partied with a bunch of LSU students last summer at a place called Robinson Island in mobile bay, near the Floribama. Great, great bunch of kids. Probably about 30 of them had driven a houseboat with a 50hp motor over from LA, lol.

this is what i think, the weakness on our d would be brawny oline wearing them down a la arky or bama or a goo qb who can throw over top a al arky or bama... and chavis looks like he isn't going to give an opposing o a lot of time to sit back and throw it over the safeties. wvu doesn't have a large oline or te, dont' havve large punishing rb's, don't have tall recievers that can beat a cb one on one and have a relatively inexperienced qb who has never seen the speed of our defense. their dline is not huge, one of their de's is small, lb's deccent, not huge, cornerbacks are both 5-10 and safeties were beat deep by Maryland.

Highly recommend heading Uptown or to one of the finer establishments on Friday PM. Hang in the quarter when you arrive Thursday and get it out of your system. You may want to make reservations in advance, as things are hopping in NOLA this time of year. Shoot me your e-mail address and I'll forward a great map of LSU and the parking recommendations.

Charlietown - In the French Quarter, there are many good eateries. Here are a few of some that top my list. Irene's Cuisine on St. Phillip (near Chartres) serves excellent and creative dishes. GW Fins on Bienville is great for seafood. For breakfast, Court of Two Sisters serves an interesting buffet. It doen't sound like you will be there on Sunday; but, if you are, check out the buffet at Begue's Restaurant in the Royal Sonesta Hotel. It is nothing short of incredible.
Vincent's Italian Restaurant is very much worth a streetcar ride to the Riverbend area for great Italian food on St. Charles Avenue.
Everyone has their personal favorites, and these are a few of mine. For food and service, you can't go wrong at these places.
For great music, I would recommend The Marigny District, which is just across Esplanade Avenue from the French Quarter. There are several good clubs, especially for jazz; but there is also other music within a radius of only a few blocks.
Also, it is not a great idea to wander off the beaten tracks in the Quarter. Hope this helps.

Very fast and very explosive on offense. Field goals won't win it next week.

We are very balanced on offense. The major concern with WVU is our offensive line, but they played very well yesterday. However, we havent played a defense in LSU's universe yet this year.
Right. They have never experienced the speed, intensity, and pressure LSU is going to put on them next week, and I don't expect their defense to be up to SEC speed. This would be a good game for Crowton to finally take off the shackles and to finally unleash the offense. I look for LSU to win this one going away. Especially at home and especially when the team is playing with a lot of confidence right now.

MidCity, Blue, thanks so much, I have copied and printed your recommendations.
Enough about WVU though, would any of you guys care to sum up LSU this year?
All I really know about you guys is that you have a QB with a lot of potential who appears to be struggling. Is he a dual threat or drop back guy?
I also know that your defense has been dominant, but was surprised to see that MSU actually had more first downs and yardage than LSU last week. You guys certainly more than made up with it with 5 turnovers, but I was surpised nonetheless.
Edit: Also, like I said earlier, we have played SEC teams six times in the last ten years, so, I am fully aware of "sec speed" lol.

Let me also welcome you to Tiger stadium. The game experience will last you a lifetime. The Tigers are very young and talented on defense. I have watched the 2 WV games that were televised. Noel divine is a special player. I think that the speed of our defense matches up well with your offense. The Tigers offense is very predictable. Run first, very little down field passes. Our offensive line has improved but the quarterback position is our weakness. Have a great time on your trip

Y'all have a good program but if we are going to throw out recent years resumes then LSU >>>>>>>>>>WV
Will know more about that Sat. night.
This game worries me a bit, as WVU though undersized and lacking the depth LSU has, possesses just enough firepower to upset an LSU team coming off its first conference win.

3-0, they'll be up for this one. We should be fine though.

wvu has never played an elite sec team in all those years except for a deflated uga. the auburn team that beat ya'll last year was the only dominating game we had last year in stomping them in br. about lsu, excellent kicker, excellent coverage teams, decent punter, athletic qb with poor field vision and average throwing ability for strength and acuracy, two great, very tall receivers, average fb, above average largish rb's; average oline, good te's; excellent dline with interior power and speed rush de's; one great lb, one good lb and one average lb; one excellent cb, two extremely young but talented cb's (nickel back); decent safties being pushed by young talented safeties. game plan is to stop the run, punish the runner, keep wr's in front and make solid tackles, wait for third and long situation and bring the heat; on offense, run the ball as much as possible and throw mostly only when necessary, definetely a run, run pass offense if possible to keep the undersized front seven of defense fresh and quick.
