I hate reading into such things, but Les' comment on the Patrick show that coaching major D1 college football 'wasn't a hard job' seemed kind of telling.

I am not but I have seen many of those behind the scenes videos LSU sports would put out where the players were in their individual position groups meeting rooms watching film.
Watching more film is a plus, but some of you are acting like no film study happened.
The guy is fired, no needing to crusade on falsehoods at this point. I don't get it.

"enough film study" is what we are discussing, and that is what I find telling
that it appears they did not get enough with the coaches and now the emphasis will be on more study

I really don't think you're reading that correctly. It wasn't a hard job for Les because he loved it, not that he didn't put effort into it. I'm not saying he didn't put the right kind of effort into it, but he definitely worked hard.
And yes, of course our players have watched film before to look for tendencies. They're just focusing more on it now, which I think is great.

Yes. The way I take it (after reading the advocate article) is there will be MORE coach assisted film study.
The coaches get 20 hours per week of contact time and that INCLUDES the game. Thus, if they practice longer hours...then there are fewer hours to have coach assisted film study.
I've no doubt they did film study and that much of it was without a position coach actually running it (like a classroom with a teacher).
I think the "change" is it will now be MORE directed, position coach assisted film study.
I was for the miles dismissal. But, I do not need to kick him any more. I WISH he had made these same changes.
He did not. So, he lost his gig.
I'll cheer like hell for LSU and O

there's always this type of talk on here when a new coach comes in and makes some change. see Billy Gonzales changing the way the WRs lined up ("OMG, we were doing it wrong the whole time, how could Les allow this") or Aranda discussing disguising blitzes ("Chavis was an idiot, he never did that").

Many people fail to understand the practice limits too. That's not to say they were doing an adequate amount of film preparation under Miles, but as others have pointed out, they only have 20 hours per week. It is implied that players - particularly the QB - have to do more studying on their own time.

The question is what were the coaches doing in their limited time with the team. It doesn't appear to be much of anything to do with the opponents, which is still a problem.

I have never been. I have been an LSU fan and enjoyed Les Miles as coach which is another thing that pisses off some fans.
It is pretty ridiculous and telling about this fanbase that supporting the team and coaches gets other "fans" riled up and they start name calling.
