Go to game......walk around....tailgate some....have a few....get in stadium early to see GBFTL...watch whole freakin game!!!!.....hang around after game to watch the last of the drunks go home....sit in car pissing and moaning about traffic...listen to morons on post-game show on Eagle....eventually go home.

Now there's a game experience!!!!!

Anything short of this is a waste of time for me!!!

Look, the deal is that in order to sell all the seats in the stadium at maximum obtainable prices, the athletic department markets them to businesses that can afford to pay those prices and take a writeoff (or partial writeoff, if they are obeying the tax law). The businesses (and their owners) may or may not have (a) other seats that they use personally, or (b) any particular loyalty to LSU other than the recognition they get for making donations. So they give the seats to whoever they feel like giving them to, without regard to the "fan-ness" of the recipient. The result is many thousands of seats that either go unoccupied, or are occupied only for the novelty of the experience, and are abandoned when the game is too uninteresting, too uncomfortable, or less attractive than some other form of entertainment. The root cause is the financial motivation of the athletic department (which of course pays for the salaries of Miles, Cameron, Chavis, etc., the facilities, etc.) There is no solution other than a different marketing approach which will have as a necessary result a lower revenue target and a less consistently high-quality product on the field.

But wait, there were posts earlier today with the idea of penalizing season ticket holders for not going to games or leaving early.

Let's look at this scenario. Big business donates lots of money. Gives tickets to customers who doesn't show up for games or leaves early. LSU takes their season tickets away for their "lack of support".

Yea..that'll work. You can sustain a high dollar program like LSU football without business support.

Bottom line is that the administration in the athletic department could give two shits about the "game day experience" for fans. All they care about is $ and this has been what it has become more and more about the past 15 or so years.

Expansion isn't about making LSU more intimidating, it's about making more money. That's the thing people don't realize. College football has simply become purely a business now and that goes for most schools. In the end, LSU fans are getting the shaft, but unless there is a change in the leadership, it will continue down this path.

No gold towels in the West Upper. Just had to go find a gold towel.
The design of the Gold towels sucked. "Live Gold" with a silhouette of the Cowardly Lion from the Wizard of Oz. Who came up with that shite? What happened to the "Tiger Eye" gold towel design from the Alabama game last season? LSUAD can't do anything right. The towels should have been saved for the Johnny Fricking Football game anyway. Waste of money.

BTW, for all the "Slow" minded on here, I'm just being facetious. Chill the frick out.

A singleminded focus on the bottom line to the detriment of brand reputation and product, will eventually hurt that bottom line. LSU had better be aware of what they're offering for the price, because demand isn't as inelastic as they think it is.

There's some truth on both sides here. We do have a lazy, entitled fan base that looks for excuses not to show up. At the same time, the game day experience is deteriorating, in part due to LSU's pursuit of the almighty dollar, and in part due to sheer neglect.

These are the comments that are so fricking stupid!

LSU is one of the dominate programs in college football. It takes BIG dollars to build and maintain facilities. Most of these BIG dollars come from businesses and TV deals, NOT you and I paying a TAF fee.

So would you like these new leaders to say screw you businesses and TV deals we're more interested in our fans in the stadium. Where do you think that will get you?

Let's see. No new facility. Crappy recruits. Never seeing the tigers on TV. But you know what, you can buy season tickets and they'll probably be good seats for very cheap because we would SUCK!!!

Have you ever heard you get what you pay for?

This doesn't make corporate pukes any more tolerable in the stadium though.

There must be a happy medium between having a crappy team and having a perennial contender that plays in front of half full stadiums. The latter doesn't make for good TV or brand awareness, which will lead to lower revenues eventually anyway.

I dont blame anyone on the east side that left, that sun was brutal.

You want to know brutal try this one:

Sat, Sep 26, 1987 #7 Ohio State vs #4 LSU Baton Rouge, La. (Tiger Stadium) 1:30 p.m. T, 13-13
CBS

I sat through this whole game on the east side and I dont remember anyone leaving that game.

On a side note: this is the game that is playing on the TV in the opening scene of the Tom Cruise movie "Cocktail" Tommy Hodson vs Chris Spileman.

There are 5 seats below me in South Upper that have only been used about 2 games per a year the last few years. This game only 2 people were in them. We have different people sitting next to us every game now and they are usually 1st time Tiger Stadium fans that leave before half time. More leg room for me.

Same here. The people beside us are a young married couple that only show up for the "big" games. The rest they sell on Ebay.

Why are they stupid? Because they are true? No one said LSU can't make money or try to get a ton, but the fact is that 99% of what LSU Admins have done is purely about money.

People are simply feeling the Admin shouldn't sell out on everything for the sake of the might dollar. I love LSU and always will, but if the experience at a game sucks, why would I go? You have to find a balance and that's the whole point.

That's a shame that people leave early. I paid a pretty penny for my tickets. Flew all the way from California, got on campus at 9am, sat on the east side of the stadium yelling til I turned blue for the whole game. Had a blast even in the heat. People take it for granted I guess. It was awesome seeing purple and gold everywhere I looked. It gets old being a sole Tiger fan in a sea of USC Trojan fans. *barf*
