That is awesome. I still remember the birth of my first.
He was born on a Wednesday evening. The Friday after was the first round of the then Big 8 Basketball tourney and my Iowa State Cyclones really need to win at least the first game to get into the Big Dance.
The tip was Friday at 6:30, we lived 30 minutes from the hospital at exactly 48 hours I had his foot out for the blood draw for whatever gets tested at 48 hours and we were out the door.
My son and I watched the Cyclones beat Mizzou 80 to 75 which got them into the dance. Sitting here tonight, I can still smell his baby hair 30 years later...
The awesome part was during the announcement Dick Vitale was pontificating (as he always did) about how ISU didn't belong in the tourney. Johnny Orr said maybe he (Orr) would get a commentator job so all he had to do all day was spew bullshite. Vitale shot back that he coached for a while, and even played an Orr coached team head to head. Orr looked right in the camera and said "yeah, and we kicked your arse". It is the only time I ever saw Vitale speechless.
