To schedule a week zero game you either have to play at Hawaii or have an opponent on your schedule that directly plays at Hawaii that season

don't need a Week Zero game. Stop with all this nonsense. Playing a glorified high school team won't do a thing for us, and would open up risk of injury. A quality coach like Kelly will have us ready Week 1.

Actually, there is another circumstance which will allow Week 0 games, which we would be able to meet fairly easily. FCS teams can schedule during Week 0 as long as it’s a non-conference matchup on national television.

If this is indeed correct (two articles are linked below for reference), the Grambling game could be moved up to Week 0 as long it gets picked up for a national broadcast. This is a no-brainer in my opinion. We get the Week 0 game, Grambling gets national TV exposure, and we get a bye week after Fla State to prepare for Miss State.

USA Today Week 0 games explained

Palm Beach TV station explains Week O rule

EDIT
By the way, Florida St is in the same boat with FCS opponent North Alabama. They could do the same and create a Week 3 bye week before facing Florida.

Sup Verge. A week zero game is never bad to work out the kinks. Don’t get the “we are too good to play week zero” mentality

So why are there so many folks posting about hoping FSU doesn't schedule another week zero game next year?

Because they scheduled Duquesne after the dates were set for LSU.

That being said, it’s not like they scheduled Duquesne a month before the season. It was scheduled in February 2021.

Annnddd we had no business winning that game. I’ll give you it was Les’ first game and it was a sign of things to come with playing down to our opponents. That being said in all 3 of those loses the teams we played weren’t significantly better than us. Unfortunately, they had a game to prepare and were way more sharp. Playing a week zero game definitely helps you stubborn douche!

It's being reported that Colorado will play a week zero game against Arizona St. Guess all this Hawaii stuff in untrue. Neither Colorado or ASU play Hawaii in 2023. They were scheduled to play later in the season.
