We did too-- June 17, 2000. Otherwise known as the 2000 College World Series final game. If only we'd known!

But holding major events on unscheduled play dates actually seems to be my family's modus operandi. We would never schedule important stuff on a set game day.

But first there was my wedding (two of my relatives did the ear bud thing, BTW) and then my grandfather's funeral was held on December 1, 2007 (SEC Championship game!). I actually drove to Louisiana FROM GEORGIA. It was rough seeing all those LSU car flags going the opposite direction on I-65.

The funeral ended in time for us to catch the second half. Between the church and the cemetery, we caught it on the radio. It was a little weird to meet up with my father at the graveside and discuss Perrilloux's performance thus far.

I should add: my grandfather and I weren't extremely close. And I was glad to have been there to support the family. But I'd have much rather been in the Georgia Dome, if only because there were fewer people crying there (except in the Tenn sections, that is).
