We were gonna lure Jimbo to LSU but USC had to hire their interim coach

People think coaches will blow their load for a top tier school and leave their current jobs no matter where they are. Thats just false.

USC hired the interim because they should have given the job to Coach O a few years ago. They decided to try it this time.
Nowhere close to the same situation

So they didn't try to get a bigger name? Right...

exactly.
they got turned down by kelly and del rio. no telling who else.
as far as coach O and helton, coach O has never bothered with being a coordinator and helton has proved that he can at least call plays on one side of the ball. you know, be a football guy. coach O has been satisfied with being a recruiter his whole career.

How exactly are the situations different? Elite level program with outstanding recruiting base that's not what it was 5 years ago. From the perspective of a prospective coach they're offering somewhere in the neighborhood of the same product.

Call me crazy but maybe.....Les was on their radar. Reports out there and even a poll had 80% saying if LSU cut Miles they would like to see the hat out there. My sister is a SC alum and told me his name was being bounced around. It may be just a coincidence but Saturday night Miles is retained and today Sc hires the interim coach........

USC jumped the gun. Why give him the job full-time before their season is even over with? Because idiots occupy the office of AD at schools other than LSU

I'm glad we didn't lure Jimbo.
Not saying that change isn't needed, but I'm not sold on Jimbo, especially at that price tag.

No one can asume they will just pick up the phone and pick their first name on the list. No one, not ND, not USC... hell look at Texas a few years ago.
In this particular case USC is going to play for a Championship so this coach actually proved his worth. That team was going nowhere not long ago, he earned the right.
