It’s pretty pathetic that this has to be said after every loss. And yet, this will be said again at some point this season.

Skip had 5 National championship seasons. The average losses per season was 14.
No team will make Omaha this year without at least 10 losses.

It’s not the losing. It’s the way we lose. The hitting wasn’t there tonight like we needed it to be. Nicholls made some great defensive plays. But the game was winnable if we pitch and field better. We gave up too many two strike hits. Too many hits with runners in scoring position and we made mental mistakes like a little league team. No matter who is in the lineup we should have a deep and talented enough team to be Nicholls on their best night.

Yea, but if the football team had 8 losses, we'd fire the coach. Can't treat the football coach any differently than the baseball coach.

I’ll quote this so dbg can read it again.

Relax. We will be fine
and in the grand scheme of things, Sunday’s improbable win outweighs tonight’s unlikely loss by a long shot.

Nicholls made me plays in the outfield but LSU gifted this game to their opponent tonight. No two ways about it. LSU lost this game on their own stupidity.

8 put of 12 is vastly different percentage than 8 out of 55.
8 losses in 12 regular season football games gives you 33% win percentage with a much smaller volume of games played and each meaning exponentially more than in baseball.
8 losses of 55 regular season baseball games gives you a 85.5% win percentage although a much larger volume ( hence the occasional midweek used to rest or necessarily experiment with and grow) are used as investments that we simply do not have time for during a much shorter season where premiums are placed on each game moreso and especially during a baseball season such as the one we are experiencing this year where to ( spend a buck to make a buck) during midweek s makes sense.
Your premise is whacked...but you know this.

Need sweeps on weekends if losing mid week games to unranked teams to hold on to #1.

Being number 1 does not matter at all.
Being a top 8 seed is what matters and this team is still very much on track to do that.

Holding on to #1 is irrelevant and having to sweep to hold onto it is not necessarily true. If WF and South Carolina sweep their week and LSU goes 2-2 on the week, then I can see them droppings but like I said, it is irrelevant. Be in the top 4 teams nationally to set yourself up better and that is what you want.

Missing your team rbi leader and your 2 hole hitter will do a lot to take out production. Nicholls easily took away 4 hits and multiple runs. It was just their day.. I’ll sacrifice a Tuesday loss to get guys healthy for the weekend.

Thanks for the logic! Most don't remember but the last championship team in 2009 lost like 6 midweek games....

So true. We just swept Ole Miss and they melt over a midweek game.
I don’t know if it’s people that are casual fans or didn’t play past high school don’t understand the percentages and probability that goes on with real competitive baseball, it’s not like other sports.
It’s the only sport where if you get a hit 3 of 10 at bats your doing good. And people think you can win every game.
It’s ludicrous.
