re: We need to sit back and give BK his credit for what he has done with this program thus far

Yeah...he took a team that averaged 10 wins a year for 10 years and in 3 years he has averaged 9.5 wins a year with an extra game. Hurray!!!
We went 5-5 and 6-7 in the 2 years before he took over. Not to mention we played the 13th game, Texas Bowl at the end of 2022 season with 43 scholarship players with a WR playing QB.
You can hate Kelly.....but please get a clue....beg, borrow, steal a clue if you cannot get one.

He has done a lot of great things and he has made mistakes
I’m glad he didn’t let his ego get in the way and he brought back some coaches he fired because he saw the value in them

Roster so bad that it won the SEC West, and had a shot at the playoffs until BK shite the bed versus aTm.
Don't forget the current DC was on the coaching staff and was let go.
BK bunch acting like he's doing this out of charity and didn't sign a 10 year $100M contract.

I see BK learning from mistakes, a great trait but we are paying millions for experience and not making those mistakes. Sh*t I could do that for 1 mil a year!

looking unprepared, generally clueless and playing without a sense of urgenc
They did not lack a sense of urgency. Fans often blame poor performance on not being fired up, but that’s generally not the case. And a team that is losing rarely seems fired up.

LSU throughout the years have had there ups and downs, but the stability is getting there.
This is exactly why CBK is controversial to any fan base especially when he inherited a completely depleted roster and a team with ZERO culture of accountability or excellence. The meteoric rise of 2018-2019 under Orgeron made a lot of fans forget the previous 8 or so years of “above average but never consistently dominant football.”
CBK came here to build something consistent. That is very difficult in the best of situations but then also complicated by the inherited issues, the shifting conferences, and (in a huge way) the advent and steep rise of the NIL culture across the entire college landscape.
I agree with OP but I have also spent time rebuilding programs/offices that were broken when I was brought on. It takes time as there will be some early indicators of success (Jayden Daniels, SEC Championship appearance) that are immediately followed by rudimentary and basic failures (defenses thinner than wet paper, special teams that can’t find their butts with both hands).
Anyone that cannot see what BK has done and is continuing to do has not been a leader in any meaningful sense - at least not a leader of team/system/process that is complicated and highly susceptible to situations that the military identifies as VUCA (Volatile, Uncertain, Complex, and Ambiguous).
Feel free to downvote away for those who disagree. I love LSU football but the thrill of a win or agony of a loss usually fades for me within 20 minutes after the game is decided. But, that’s just me.

If things go good and it improved like it did from 23 to 24, we'll be 9th out of 16. That is not fixed. Sorry.
Baker’s first defense at Mizzou took a solid step forward in year one, similar to what we saw last year. They took a bigger leap in year two and that lead to their breakout season in 23. With the talent upgrades, I think we will see a similar jump in performance this year, as well.

Playoffs or bust.
He’s getting paid to much to not be in the final 12. Bottom line.

He gets a D- for hiring coordinators. Denbrock left after one year. Polian was horrible, as was house. When Denbrock left, he searched the world over and came up with Joe Sloan.
Denbrock left after TWO years. And that entire offensive staff has been pretty damn good, so I don’t know what the frick you are complaining there other than promoting Sloan instead of searching wider.
Polian was a terrible ST Coach, but he was very successful at scouting players out of the portal. That team could have sucked arse if we hadn’t hit on and many guys as we did in that first portal class.
Unfortunately, the rules didn’t allow for an analyst to coach players directly and recruit as much until after he was fired, or he could have been brought in with an admin role instead of as an on-field coach.
House turned out poorly, but let’s remember he wasn’t the first choice. If ND hadn’t hired him, Freeman was going to follow Kelly to be our DC. That would have been a grand slam hire.

That play has been solved since the offseason of 2005, still do not understand this failure. That being said, as long as he is aware of this and highest good coordinators this can be masked.
Go look at our Safeties and CBs last season and look how many changes we’ve seen there for this year. It was usually them or Penn, who was slow, losing contain and missing tackles vs Reed and Milroe.

Miles started off strong in P5 openers, but he had to back his arse into wins in those later years. His teams weren’t prepared to play in either Wisconsin game and got his arse handed to him in that 2016 opener.
