His Jimmy Taylor story is great. He wanted to play with a one bar face mask. The equipment managers tried to talk him out of it but he insisted on the one bar. He said Jimmy Taylor ran him over and he ran to get his face mask switched out.

I am glad to hear, but not surprised, that he affected others here to in a positive way.

LOL! I don't remember that part, but it sounds about right. It was just a few months after Katrina and there was a lot happening...
I do remember him saying that JT told him something like, "Welcome to the SEC, boy!", but I'm not sure of the exact line.
He had kind of mild, almost quiet, manner about him. When he told this terrifically funny, self-deprecating story, he had us all laughing.
Again, I can't say enough good stuff about the man. In my limited exposure to him, he was very business-like, but at the same time it was obvious that he wanted to be a help, not a hindrance, to people rebuilding. I have fond and nothing but positive memories of the man!

Honestly, how can any LSU fan downvote this thread?

1) It's not only LSU fans on here.
2) There's a certain segment of posters who make stalking and down voting posters that they don't like their mission in life. There may be some of that happening.

Down vote me is fine. Down voting this thread is a disgrace no matter who you root for.

You'll get no argument from me, but as you probably already know, there's quite a bit of severely juvenile behavior on TD.
Thanks for starting the thread. I may not have heard about Mr. Wittmann's passing if you hadn't.
