He was pegged as the worst possible hire 10 days ago when his named surfaced.

This isn't a case of LSU fans being automatically disgruntled with everything they're given - no one wanted this guy when his name was floated around as a rumor.

Bad coaches are bad coaches. Period. Steele may be an adequate position coach, but he has had numerous opportunities to prove himself as a head coach and as a defensive coordinator - and he has completely failed in each of those capacities.

It's a terrible hire, better to be pissed off than complacent.

Maybe we should meet him at at the airport and when he walks by yell, "We need a winner, not a loser."

I got more class than that, his performance will speak for him, then we will be labelled as poor sports, nega whatever and the shite just keeps on rolling down hill

I agree OP. Our fans suck and it hurts our program. I don't blame recruits for wanting to go to Bama with the shitty fanbase that we have here

It's disappointing because most people will look at his last year as a dc and feel underwhelmed. However the years before that his d was pretty good, especially by clemsons standards at the time. Then he was respected enough as a coach to be hired back by saban.

Overall while I don't love the hire I do like it and I think we should see how the d looks next year before the meltdown commences.

THe fact that he tried as a DC once and failed pretty miserably at it. It doesn't instinctual much confidence.

30 minutes after the hire, before he's had any time to do anything much less coach a game, he's pegged as a horrible hire.
Becasue given the record, that's exactly what this looks like. We could all be wrong, but there is little to suggest it. What you're reading is honest fan reaction to a coaching search that appeared to have much promise and ended in disappointment. I guess everyone could blow smoke up your arse?!?

They hired a guy whose last game as a DC surrendered 70 points.
When LSU started their DC search, I'm sure everyone thought... "yup... that guy that gave up 10 TDs in one game.... that's their guy."

Wow its funny how this isnt applied to Miles. He gave lsu its most successful 10 year stretch in lsu history and posters swear we will never win a title (of any kind)with him.
