I know he's older. Did Auburn hire him away from ASU?

that tirned into a doible play or two outs called even thought Hugo only threw to second base

When the broadcast listened in on the miced up umpire explaining the situation to the coaches, it sounded like the runner at first was called out because the first base coach made contact with her and assisted her in some way. Never saw a replay on it, but the ump said "he grabbed both her hands" or something like that.

I think Hugo messed up by throwing to second. Should have attempted the tag that drove the runner out of the baseline, and then thrown to first. Might have gotten the DP without the run scoring. However, it appears that the "out of the baseline" wasn't called anyway, so maybe not. Runner was way out of the baseline, in my opinion.

yup been sayin'. he's a great coach. back to bacl WCWS. first two in Au's history. he was great at ASU and won TWO national championships.

Not to mention something like 6 JUCO softball titles and a JUCO baseball title at the same school before going to ASU. No denying he's a good coach, and great hire by Auburn.

A few posters have commented on our struggles at the plate. Some have advocated replacing Howard Dobson as hitting coach. Does anybody really think that Beth would do that? They seem to have a really good working relationship.

Dobson is a very good hitting coach, we sometimes are just really inconsistent. Every year he had been here leading up to this year, we have gotten so much better. This incoming class has a lot of really good hitters that are much more polished coming out hs compared to some of the players we have now. Cunningham, Doyle, Dawson, and even Springfield are all phenomenal offensive talents. When Dobson gets a hold of this it will be good. Constance Quinn is a very solid players but definitely isn't the most polished hitter out there.

If you look at future classes you can see a shift in recruiting philosophy. It's more versatile hitters with power. Even the slappers have a lot of power!

2017 has incredible talent as well. Cristiona Caccamise is a very good player out in Cali, Alyssa Martinez is a highly recruited infielder in Texas! Taryn Antoine plays for the witchita mustangs I think! She's a slapper but will put up a lot more power numbers than other slappers we have had in previous years

Do people not remember what the offense was like BEFORE Dobson? It was horrific. He has been awesome. 3 WCWS in 5 years with the most productive 3-4-5 combo in the history of the program.

Of course he won't be replaced nor has it ever been discussed.

of course he is a good coach. He has to compete with Auburn, Florida LSU, etc, not just in games but recruiting and he is always in the CWS. I dont know how someone could say he isn't that good. He'd turn around a team, maybe just as fast and Auburn turned.
