how did he get her number to invite her to his room and why did she go to his room, which is not the same room the party took place? What did she think the invite was about?
The way I read it this happened in the congregate setting……I don’t see where the girl left the party to go to the trooper’s room or invited him to her room…..if either of these happened then questioning her story would be warranted in my mind.

I heard she played the trombone.
I believe her now.
There were a couple of decent trombone players when I played……very very low percentage though.

It's not in the article but rumor around town. Rumors aren't always true of course.

It doesn’t matter. He’s in a position of authority AND feeding them alcohol. It should be criminal but at the very least it should disqualify you from holding any position of authority for the government for you lack of basic judgement skills.

These scumbags are what is making it harder and harder to defend the police in general. Weed them out faster, so it’s easier to show that police as a whole are good.

The kicker was the pic of hungover band members at a Saints performance in the Advocate When I joined there had been a large push to remove a bunch of the rowdy members and ban the drinking from the trips. It was also the first year of the Tiger Rag ban as well
I was in from 93-97 and drinking was officially banned on the road that entire time. The only time the rules were relaxed a bit was the 96 Peach Bowl trip, at least until everyone got a little too crazy and they cracked down again.
We repeated the not-so-flattering Saints game sports page pictures the Sunday after the 95 Auburn Bring Back the Magic Game. Half the band didn’t even sleep that night, so there were several people literally in sleeping bags on the sideline (we didn’t sit in the stands for our once a year Saints game trip) and slumped over in chairs covered in blankets. The Saints weren’t very happy with us making the paper, and neither was Wickes.
I didn’t think to bring a sleeping bag to that game, but I slept through as much of it as I could to recover from before and prep for later. That Friday night was the Phi Boota Roota (drumline) pledge night, so we had the freshmen running around campus doing stupid shite in the evening before partying all night and taking as many shots as we could hold. Then Saturday we had practice during the day and the Auburn game, which was intense and one of my all-time favorites in Tiger Stadium.
We all went out after the game because it was such a huge win, but the drumline didn’t go too crazy since we went pretty hard the night before. Then we had the yearly Saints game on Sunday, which was a noon kick. That meant an incredibly hung over GBFTL had to be on the bus at 7 AM Sunday morning. I actually drove to NOLA instead of riding the bus because Pearl Jam was in town that night at Tad Gormley and a bunch of us had tickets. So we were there taking in a great shown until late and then I somehow didn’t kill us all driving back to BR.
I think that was the longest weekend of my life and I didn’t do shite on Monday. Good times. The mention of the pictures in the sports page brought it all back.

I'm not excusing him. I'm just asking questions.

Keeping in mind how language is used as a weapon now, I’ll be interested in seeing what groped and talked to in a sexual manner actually is. This kind of vague language could be anything in today’s world of #metoo. Dance past a girl at a party, groping. “How you doing?” Sexual language. I seriously doubt a 50 year old trooper suddenly became a serial rapist around a large group of people but we’ll see.
