And with the covid situation and rules, 3 or 4 of his top girls/recruits could follow him.
LSU would instantly be perrinial Top 5.

That's how you do homerun hires, Woodward.

ps..UConn would probably close down, lol

You’re going to get downvoted but the “it’s not your money, why do you care” and “LSU should spend whatever is needed to be the best in all sports” crowds will have no real answer for this.

I’m sure if they offered auriemma $10 million per year he would happily move down to Baton Rouge.

Because he is an older white male and is not from Louisiana.

This is dumb. He has it made there, plus UCONN Women’s basketball is one of the few women’s teams that makes a profit. They can easily match and still make a profit.

ETA - I listed revenue instead of profit. Not sure of the profit, but their revenue is still significantly higher than almost every other Women’s bball program.

You want the best? Or do you wanna bargain shop.

I get what your saying, but he getting old and would probably jump at another 500k per year. But, you don't want Uconn to be able to match.

Because he wouldn't leave. We have a chance with Mulkey because she's from Louisiana and obviously her son played baseball at LSU. No chance Gino comes to LSU for any realistic offer.

The best always want new challenges and end career on a higher earning scale knowing they are leaving.

Give him 4 or 5 and let him break even. It better than giving her his type of money and losing 2.5M per year

Yeah. Ok. So let's not offer. We wouldn't want our AD doing his job

No matter how many times people say this, it will never actually be true. Especially the $4-5 million number you had before the edit.

Their expenses are also significantly higher than every other women’s basketball program.

I hear ya Lester. Point is, I'd rather give him 4+ and break even, then give her 3+ and lose 1.5 per year.

I was kinda joking, but you have to make those calls as a top conference AD, right?

Mulkey is almost just as good.

Geno
Mulkey
Staley
Vanderveer
McGraw

Are all in the same tier. Geno has tenure and the history of UConn over them

Nope

quote:

Despite a historic 111-game winning streak and four consecutive NCAA championships, UConn’s women’s basketball program turned a modest profit of just $1.3 million during the school’s 2016 fiscal year, according to Department of Education data. Prior to that, head coach Geno Auriemma’s dominant Huskies operated in the red in both 2014 and 2015.

I would think our TAF setup pumps about 10 times the money into the school than UConns does.

So our "loss" wouldn't be a school loss, TAF would be handling most of the expenses.

That's where we would crush a achool.like that in athletic budgeting.

One of those has 11 championships by himself.

The other 4 have 9 championships combined.

not even close. In the 2019-20, UCONN WBB had $4 million in revenue, but $8.2 million in expenses.

They lost $4.2 million.

WBB just doesn't have the TV deals, which are the big revenue drivers.

1. And? Why not take it a step further back and say all the coaches that make the tournament every year are in the same tier?

2. Not true. UConn has been to the final 4 for the last 13 years.

Baylor for 3 of the last 13 years.

Notre dame for 6 of the last 13.

South Carolina for 3 of the last 13.

Stanford for 8 of the last 13.

McGraw isn’t even coaching anymore.

Vanderveet started at Stanford in 1985.

McGraw started at Notre dame in 1987.

What else do you want to be wrong about?
