Flaujae had her worst game of the season, we shot 60% from the FT line, officiating was atrocious, offensive game plan was downright awful. Just a bad night all around

Flaujae has not really played well in general in our big games in SEC play and thats been a issue

Morrow despite her gaudy stats continues to be a black hole defensively.

This is not a national championship caliber team. Sweet sixteen, sure, and probably elite eight, but I don’t see them going any farther than that. We’ve been sloppy and there have been some real WTF coaching moments from Mulkey. We’ve also encountered some horrifically bad officiating on the road this season. It’s not why we lost, but it sure didn’t help us out.

It's going to be tough, but none of the top teams have really separated from the pack.

UCLA is still the favorite for the #1 overall seed. But they were a missed foul call away from losing @Iowa.

It was a 1 possession game @Texas for LSU a minute to go.

USC and Notre Dame are similar where if you can stop Watkins/Hidalgo then they can be beat.

It's always nice to not have an SEC crew when playing South Carolina. If a ref decides that he isn't going to let them play bully ball; then they are beatable.

Will LSU win is all? Probably not. Can they? Yes. Biggest issue for LSU is the complete lack of offense outside of the Big 3, and average PG play.

Also worth considering that the minutes are adding up for LSU. I think that has something to do with their flat start to games, and close finishes. A 2 week break between the end of the SEC Tournament and the 1st round will help.

We have two issues:

We have no discernible depth. Kim obviously only trusts a few people to play in close games and I would imagine that revolves around defense. It was odd to see shepherd on the floor during the endgame when we needed a three knowing she’s taken two all year.

And we lack sustained intensity. Possibly because of the lack of depth. We just do really dumb stuff. Johnson and Morrow routinely follow up a min of all American level play with a min of lack of def, forcing shots into triple teams and general lackadaisicalness.

And seriously poa must be in the deepest doghouse Kim has. We desperately needed her to guard barker and nope. Didn’t even have her jacket off.

I’ve said a couple times. When we focus we can’t beat anybody. But we only focus about 50% of the time. I know people have their thoughts on angel. But we are missing her leadership. She was rarely not focused.

I’ll add,
It’s very frustrating to watch people like smith, daywilson shepherd and even Williams last night bust arse on d for 25 secs. Then just to see morrow or flaujaes player cut to the basket open with them trailing.

Geno preaches “stars don’t get tired. Even when they are tired, they don’t get tired”.

We lack that.

Its a team game, you can have 4 players busting their arse going 100% but if one person doesn't do their job thats all it takes.

I would have given Jersey/Gilbert more minutes with how Flaujae was playing tbh (on both ends). Sure they probably will screw up like everyone else but I mean Flaujae was just killing us the entire night

But we lack any type of consistent intensity on D in general. When they play D and are locked in, its outstanding but they dont do it consistently sadly.
