IMO, to make the NCAA Tourney. Around a 20-10 record, but could be better....

I think the Sweet 16 is a reasonable prediction for this team.

Any time that you can get low post depth like we do with Martin/Mickey/JOBIII/Odo then you should fair well in college basketball.

Then you have two shooters in Hickey and Stringer. I think LSU will be happy that Morgan came back. The kid can shoot the ball and there is definite depth concerns at SG/SF unless they put Martin at some SF

i see no reason why we shouldn't be able to rebound and play low post defense so the sky is pretty much the limit with this team. If odo is as good as advertised then we might push kentucky for the sec. Imagine LSU with a 1 seed in the tournament. It's a pipe dream but you can't deny they will be one of the better teams on paper.

I really thought they should have made the tourny this past season and would want to build from there. Winning record in the SEC and a tourny berth will be a good step forward. Depending on the matchup perhaps make it to the Round of 32.

I'm excited about this team and the future as well, but can we pump the brakes on "SWEET 16 OR BUST!"

This is the first team that Coach Jones will have with actual talent and none of the guys have ever played together. I would be THRILLED with a tourney birth and a first round victory. Going forward, I think all we can realistically expect is to be on the bubble/competing for the SEC every year (which is a massive upgrade).

I love how our basketball fans are already spoiled. That team had absolutely no business playing in the Dance.

I'm hoping to be off the bubble and be firmly in the tournament. Everything else is gravy.

I'm not saying it would be a disappointment if we didn't make it to the Sweet 16, I just think two wins in the tourney is where I think this team is. Not to mention, we should have a great shot at finishing 3rd in the SEC behind Kentucky and Florida, both of whom may be #1 seeds come next March

Ole Miss has no low post play now and not much to help Henderson this year. The exodus at Alabama that includes Lacey and the kidnapper Pollard will knock them down. Missouri loses a number of guys and so forth.

Johnny definitely picked the right year to bring in a solid class and with our returnees, it should make for a solid year

Me too, absolutely. But I think being on the bubble/in the tournament every year is a realistic and obtainable goal for this program.

I see Sweet 16 with the right matchups.
I believe people will really get behind this team once they see how exciting this team is to watch, and how rocking the PMAC will be getting, and that the Tigers are on national TV already a lot more.

Roster by position as of now:
PG Anthony Hickey 5'11 (178)- JR
PG/SG Tim Quarterman 6'5 (180)- FR
SG/PG Andre Stringer 5'10 (180)-SR
SG Malik Morgan 6'4 (190)-SO
SF/SG Shane Hammink 6'7 (208)-SO
SF Shavon Coleman 6'5 (195)-SR
SF/PF Brian Bridgewater 6'6 (230)-FR
SF/PF Jarrell Martin 6'8 (210)-FR
PF/SF Jordan Mickey 6'7 (220)-FR
PF/C Johnny O'Bryant III 6'9 (256)-JR
C John Odo 6'11 (240)-JR
C Darcy Malone 7'0 (220)-FR

Possible 2013 Addition will see today!!!!
PG/SG Randy Onwuasor 6'3 (190)-FR

A person close to the basketball program that has been with them said even though he has not gotten to see all of players together at once yet, he said they could be just as if not more athletic than the 2005-2006. And in that in terms of player for player the most athletic team top to bottom he has seen.

I am excited to see the different lineups CJJ will employ, the full court press like VCU, or just an up-tempo high flying team where everybody plays above the rim, and of course a few Stringer Bombs!!!!

Is the full schedule out? Until then, it's hard to say what the season might look like.

However, I expect them to finish anywhere from 3-7 in the SEC and be in the discussion for an NCAAT bid. Also, we don't know how the Freshman will perform, but I think Martin will underwhelm a bit, while Mickey will exceed expectations. I think JOB will look like a recreation of Brandon Bass (but he won't win POY). Hopefully some more folks will consistently be in the seats (that's on you students and BR metro area)

It takes chemistry as well as talent. We will have some talent for a change but can all those individual abilities be melded into a team? Look at Miami Heat, everyone says they have more talent than the Spurs but San Antone has a system and everyone knows their part. Talent comes with ego. Will CJJ be able to convince them to sublimate that for the better of the team?

Still have the possibility of Keith Hornsby (6'4" PG from UNC-Asheville) and Ilker Er (6'7" SG).
