Wasn't the SEC Championship moved in 2001?

For 9/11 and we beat Tennessee? I know the circumstances are different and everything got pushed back a week, but it's been done before.

Every college football game was cancelled that weekend I believe. So every conference had everything moved back a week.

everyone had a makeup game though...not just 2 teams. You'd have to delay the playoff announcements as well, ain't going to happen

EVERYTHING was moved in 2001 because of 9/11 ... totally different circumstances.

Biggest problem with this is that the SECCG is scheduled for 12/3, and and the playoff selection committee meets 12/4. They would have to push literally the entire CFB bowl selection process and playoff process back an entire week just for one game. Would be a logistical nightmare.

The commissioner at the time planned on playing the games until everybody freaked out so we moved them once the NFL even cancelled their games.
The makeup games were played the week before the SEC Championship with the winner of the makeup games both playing in the championship game.

No. Back in 2001 there was a week off between the season's end and the SEC Championship Game. Therefore all games that were supposed to be played the weekend of September 11 were moved to that "bye" week before the chip. Thats why auburn was in late November / early December that year

It's been said 8 times, but the situation in 2001 was completely different than this one.
LSU's Joe Alleva should have made a stronger push for Mobile. To wit, students and faculty of Emory Riddle evacuated to Auburn, and the distance from Gainesville to Mobile isn't that far (393 miles).
