IDK, but I'll bet my house O was a JBE hire and Alleva was completely out of the loop during the process.

And if the D struggles all season, many of these same guys will be hanging it all on Orgeron - which is ridiculous considering Woodward's long friendship with Pelini, and Woodward's considerable influence in the program.

quote:

“I’ve known Bo a long time. Obviously, with Coach Aranda, I knew one day he would get a head job and I was happy for him,” Orgeron said during his appearance on the show. “I thought Bo was the best choice of LSU. When he came here, he had some great defenses, one of the top defenses in the nation."

“I’ve known Bo for a long time, he and I have a great passion for the game and with the coaches we have on our staff, this is an excellent choice, it’s the best choice, I feel, for LSU. I always want to bring the best to LSU, I think we got a great hire.”

quote:

“I think he had a good taste of it being at Nebraska, being in (the Big 12), he saw those offenses,” Orgeron noted. “I’m sure he saw some at Youngstown State… We went and talked to him about playing the spread when we was at USC. So, he knows how to play (against) the spread. He’s been in the NFL, he can defend anything, he’s a brilliant mind.”

You have no chops for assessing QB talent, yet you pretend to be the last word on all things football. LOL Here's an example from 8/30/19 -

Dukke -
quote:

jeaux thinks Burrow is the best QB in the country and he can’t be stopped. I love Burrow and he is a real good QB, but he is NO Trevor Lawrence. FACT.

We are all aware of the media made-for-talking points on the hire. But, sometimes info from closer to the transaction shows up on TD. Sometimes not.

Which means you have your own opinion on whose hire it was and you won’t quit until you find someone to back that up

The O Bashers are coming out of the woodwork on this one - that alone tells me something.

Who forced the Joe Brady hire? What about Kevin Faulk and James Cregg?

Can't we get through the season before we start firing coaches.
If you guys were in charge, Orgeron would have been fired after the Troy game, no Burrow, no National Championship.
Burrow would be selling insurance instead of quarterbacking the Bengals.
Hurt would have the Heisman.
You guys would be bitching about Frost or some other loser.

Why do you guess that?

Did Brady have a good friend in the Athletic Dept who had the authority to sign him to a fat contract?

If not, too bad he didn't.

I think it was getting late and we needed a DC real quick. We were recruiting heavily and I think it was a lazy hire no matter who made the final decision It's on O and Woodward is on the watch list.

A newly hired AD would have to have balls the size of West Virginia to tell a coach that just had the greatest season ever who his next DC was going to be.

And you think this delimiter somehow rules out Woodward?

I am going to presume that O has a lot of leeway on his hires, he deserves it, unless it is something outrageous. As far as the money is concerned, I am sure that it Woodward's territory.

Legitimate question. Don't know the answer.

It’s not a legitimate question. Stupid, yes!

Surprised you have such a limited understanding of how most football programs work. Even ADs who are 'hands off' guys get involved in OC and DC hires.

My question was not was Woodward involved, of course he was, but how much.

Very few HCs have a contract that gives them carte blanche on all hires - Orgeron isn't one of those, yet.

O said Pelini was picked to help make the switch from Arandas 3-4 to the 4-3. He was sent to Pete Carroll, an Orgeron mentor, to adopt some of Carroll and Orgerons tendencies into his own scheme. Pelini and Carroll along with Carroll’s disciples like O have a 10 year history at least and prior relationships. Orgeron knew Pelini previously as well so Woody knowing him doesn’t overshadow the explanation for the hire the way you’re pretending it does. The argument you’re giving is canceled out and since you don’t have anything but a hunch to go up against the public record and statements your position is more of a fantasy than anything else.

Not working out very well so far.

And to ignore the long-time friendship between Woodward and Pelini in a 7 million dollar business deal is beyond naïve.

“Not working out so well”

I agree it was a bad hire. I said it when it happened, Pelini hasn’t fielded a competitive D in almost a decade.

As far as your second statement, you’re the one ignoring relationships. You’ve built a completely made up narrative based on Woody and Pelini knowing each other while ignoring the fact that Orgeron and Pelini have been knowing each other as well. You’ve also ignored all the evidence surrounding your question while pushing your fantasy without any to support it.
