Was Jay checked out this off-season

I mean winning 2 natties in three years is probably exhausting on mind and body for him. Plus the rumors of MLB job offerings, then comments about LSU not putting enough NIL funds into the program. Only explanation

His crying about funding is a real bad look looking back on it now he clearly knew we were going to suck and was trying to get out in front of it

Just saying could be a possibility, when you're successful like he has been you start getting opportunities thrown at you all the time. Maybe the distractions were too much this off-season. Either way I have no doubt we will bounce back and be good again.

His body? He’s not even 50. Skip won his 1st at 53, but already looked 65. He won his 5th at 62. And travel is much easier today and the clubhouse more comfortable. Everything is easier on the body now than it was 35 years ago. Jay probably spends more time recruiting than Skip did those last 10 years, but he’s gonna do that every year.
His mind? I’m sure every season takes a mental toll. But I guarantee you this season has been much more mentally exhausting on Jay than his 2 NC seasons. If anything, they probably invigorated him.

Plus the rumors of MLB job offerings
There were no rumors of MLB offerings, especially in the offseason. He talked about that—briefly—during a press conference in the middle of this season after being asked about it. COULD there have been offerings in the offseason? I suppose, though doubtful. And he flat out said there weren’t. Official ones, at least. But the point is he wasn’t having to publicly deal with offseason rumors like you suggest.

The comments you are referring to were much tamer than they’ve been made out to be. And they didn’t have anything to do with NIL—if I recall correctly—they were about revenue share, which is a different thing altogether. I could be wrong. I wish someone would post his actual quotes, instead of alluding to them based on what you’ve read here, which most posters criticizing him for this seem to have done.
Did we not have as much NIL money as he would have preferred? Probably. If he’d have gotten $5 million more would he still have preferred more? Also, probably. But we had enough to sign the #1 “ranked” portal class.
Now who knows about the timing and what went on behind the scenes in the offseason. But Jay doesn’t have kids, apparently has a very supporting wife, and basically lives at the facility. He can walk and chew bubble gum at the same time. I doubt any disputes over money took away so much of his time or mental energy that he wasn’t able to give this season 100%.

Only explanation
Not true at all. Actually, there are tons of other explanations—reasons, not excuses, most of which have been discussed thoroughly. And all of which, ultimately, are his responsibility. But Jay Johnson being “checked out this offseason” is not on the list.

You might be just as crazy for responding to a rantarded so thoroughly

Your 3 paragraph response in defense makes it more obvious. You like I don't know shite I'm judging by the product on the field because the other option is he's a terrible coach which I know for a fact isn't true. Sorry but sometimes the obvious is the answer. Brian Kelly was disinterested and his teams played like it.

You didn't choose the most obvious answer
1. Playing all the way through Omaha hurts portal recruiting, by now we know this is a fact
2. They missed on pretty much every transfer
Number 2 is suprising, but oh well.

Oh, no doubt.

This is true. What also is true is that none of his pitchers who were freshman last year have taken much of a step forward. You’ve scored 7 or more runs in 3 of the last 7 losses. It’s not all on the portal players. Your returning pitchers have let you down.
