The heat really start started affecting him. He was really stretching his arms and shoulders after each pitch. He probably would be more formidable in a cooler less humid situation.

I was disappointed in our hitting….16 RBIs

I don’t care if it was one hitter or 16 hitters that get me 16 RBIs. When we score 16 runs, I would look for something else to be disappointed in than our hitting.

Dude, we only had 8 hits.

Thankfully 3 of those were a 3 run dinger and 2 grannies. We were very fortunate with the 5 HBP and I’ll give our guys credit for drawing 8 walks.

Dude we had 16 runs. You’re trying to discount that because we only had 8 hits. But 3 of those hits were home runs. You can’t just brush that off. Also because we got so many free passes, those take away the opportunities to get hits. If the other team is giving you that, you have to make them pay and we did.

What if those 3 HRs were solo shots?

We were very fortunate that the bases were juiced when they hit them.

What if? I don’t have to play what if. They weren’t solo shots. We won. I enjoyed it. I’m sorry you were so disappointed .

Throwing across his body makes it very difficult to pickup coming out of the hand which makes it more difficult when he keeps that exact arm slot and delivery with each pitch that plays off each other. Whether he throws 88-91 doesn’t matter when you can’t time it up. But they did an excellent job driving up his pitch count even if they didn’t get a lot of hits.

Jared Poche had a lot of success because of his elite command and delivery.

Yeah, he only gave up 2 hits (fortunately one was a 3 run bomb), but he walked one and had 3 hit batters.

You could see if you looked closely that he seemed overwhelmed by the crowd(the atmosphere was to big for him), the situation(on the road in a super regional) and perhaps the heat. He obviously didn't pitch his best. He was visibly stumbling on his feet on the mound and his hands were shaking. It was a big setting. In light of it we may have been afforded more hits but he walked/hbp a few of us however, he still managed to keep us down for a few innings. We had a horseshoe up our asses yesterday with 3 bombs resulting in 11 runs and 13 free passes. We aren't used to getting these gifts on both sides especially in the SEC. It was nice to relax once the scoring occured.

There were men on base when we hit the 3-run shot because of the approach at the plate. Whether it was 1 or 2 hits doesn’t matter. Driving up the pitch count and drawing walks continues to put pressure on the pitcher.

This was the sequences for the bombs.

3rd inning, 1 out, bases empty, HBP, HBP, 3 run homer.

5th inning, lead off single, BB, BB, grand slam.

6th inning, lead off double, BB, fielder’s choice runner out at 3rd (runners at 1st and 2nd, 1 out), HBP, BB (run scores), BB (run scores), infield flyout (2 outs), grand slam.

8 free passes in those 3 innings that scored.

Crazy how these things unfolded.

And? Like most of our home games where we have started slowly, once we got a bead on their pitcher, we worked him for walks and hit batters and then we raked him and the next three out of the game.

Save your concern for Omaha. It may be warranted then.

bullshite. At least three of those happened because we responded to the ump’s zone and their strategy to pound inside by crowding the plate. Our response to their strategy forced them to throw with more control to hit that spot. That’s not accidental. That’s strategic.

So, instead of jumping on the starting pitcher early, stringing back to back singles and scoring a run in the first like they did, you’d rather waste 3 or 4 innings “feeling out” pitchers?
