I don't understand the coach bashing the invariably follows when one of the LSU teams loses a game(particularly in baseball and basketball). I don't like Wade, but that doesn't mean I don't respect his ability to coach.

Wade has made some coaching mistakes, as every coach does in every game (even the ones where they win). But, the team has talent and I suspect that Wade will have this team ready when the SEC schedule starts. Wade is a young guy (with a ton of enthusiasm) who needs to find his way somewhat. I think he'll do so.

You want the team to peak a tournament time. This is the goal and I think we'll make that goal.

It is a lot more difficult to coach in the "one and done era."

17-19 wins, 8-10 wins in the SEC. Book it.

You’ve been here since 2011 & haven’t figured out yet that the rant is an irrational clusterfrick?

It is when it comes to coaches. Wade and Maineri are highly competent coaches in sports where you are very unlikely to have undefeated seasons. You get to the tournament, hope to peak at that time, and then go for the gold.

I wish LSU had a few more basketball games before SEC time starts. I think it would benefit this team.

There isn't one single person on this board that has bashed Wade half as much as you have.

I am being very consistent. My position has always been that he was nothing but big talk until he proved himself. This is true (and a number of posters have made similar comments this year - mostly after losses of course).

I believe that this will be the year Wade proves himself.

I've got the feeling they are primed for a break-out performance tomorrow night. Is that just me?

So, you made a thread to call people out for saying something after a loss that you have been saying since your boy JJ was fired? Makes perfect sense.

There's a difference between questioning and "bashing". I think it has been reasonable to question Wade in light of the fact that the same issues that hurt his team last year are largely the same issues hurting the team this year, despite an almost completely revamped roster. That doesn't mean the team won't or can't get better in those departments, but it is a bit worrisome to see, to this point, somewhat minimal improvement in those areas (i.e. defense and rebounding) from last season.

The SEC schedule starts in 3 weeks (1/8), so now is the time to start to kick it in to gear so to speak. That starts tomorrow night in would should be an interesting game. Also, on paper, the first part of the SEC schedule looks more manageable than the last part. The hope is that LSU can stack some wins in January before getting into the February grinder. Even if LSU is playing well at then end of Jan., you don't want to have to be fighting an uphill battle to make the NCAAT with games vs. Auburn, Tenn., Kentucky, MSU, Florida ahead of you.

Right now LSU is in a spot where, while they certainly missed some opportunities to be in a better position going into SEC play, they aren't way on the outside looking in. Getting a win over Furman likely secures them a spot in the NET top 40 beginning SEC play.

You still have yet to provide a legitimate example of this big talk.

Because Wade took his buddy Johnny Jones' job.

You are 100% correct.

I was also 100% correct when I took the position that Wade is a great recruiter (can't argue there) but everything else is "big talk" until he produces a team that generates results consistent with the excellent talent that he recruited.

I think he'll do it this year.

Wade seems like a good coach. My main issue with him is that he has a blind spot with certain players and gives way too many minutes to freshman "stars" right off the bat. Even the Fab 5 in Michigan came off the bench to start the season.

I worry that Wade will revert back to the old lineup tomorrow and no lessons will have been learned.

In this era of college basketball, you don’t recruit 5 star players and then put them on the bench. For better or worse, that would kill your ability to recruit. High level guys aren’t going somewhere to come off the bench and if you lie to them to get them here that’s even worse.

If you want the highest level talent, you live with these headaches. UK has similar early season struggles a lot of years before turning it up as the season wears on and especially at tournament time.
